"Phillip Eugene Martin, 61, a resident of Cherryvale, Kansas, passed the final mile marker on February 1, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Born on September 2, 1962, to Robert Martin and Hazel Moore. In 1980, Phillip proudly served in the National Guard from 1980-1984. He embraced a lifelong career as a truck driver, finding solace in the vastness of the open road. An avid enthusiast, Phillip enjoyed attending races at Mo-Kan Speedway in Southeast Kansas, along with his love for fishing and working on model trains Phillip is survived by his daughter Racheal Snook and her husband James of Copan, OK. Codi Martin and his wife Elizabeth of Kansas City, MO. He leaves behind siblings David Martin and Becky Sexton, along with grandchildren Taelor, Brock, Layni, Jazmine, Patrick, Sophia, and Theodore. His legacy extends to great-grandchildren Karson, Baker, and Rhiannon. Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Martin and Hazel Moore, and his brothers Robin Martin and Randy Martin. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength for all who knew and loved him. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia, KS. The family will receive friends at visitation from 10:00AM to 12:00PM prior to the service. Written by the family-Ray (Budd) Edgar Cooper, 85, Joplin, entered into rest on December 23, 2023, at his home in Joplin, MO, following an extended illness. Budd was born May 19, 1938, in Neosho, Missouri. He was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Neosho High School and served in the US Army from 10/26/1961 to 10/23/1963. Budd spent the majority of his adult life working in the automotive industry as a parts manager at various car dealerships in Seneca and Neosho, MO, and Northwest Arkansas. Budd and Karen L. Gunlock were married on March 24, 1961, at Fairview Baptist Church in Joplin. Survivors include a son, Jason Ray Cooper and wife, Maureen; a granddaughter, Sidney Ray Cooper; and one brother, Gary Cooper. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Osborne Cemetery in Joplin. Jerry Norman, 89 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, MO.Jerry was born December 19, 1934 to John Norman and Faye (Norman) Moore. Jerry was united in marriage to Glenda (Hewkin) Norman. Before moving to Baxter Springs, they had lived in Laughlin, NV, Fairfield, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and Corpus Christi, TX. Jerry retired after serving in the United States Air Force for twenty years. While in the Air Force he served during Korea and Vietnam. He then worked for a short time in civil service. Jerry enjoyed airplanes, guns, thrift shopping and traveling to name a few.Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Glenda Norman; along with his brothers.Jerry is survived by three daughters, Paula Sue Doran (Shawn) of Fairfield, CA, Lisa Norman of Sacramento, CA, and Julia Brackfield of Vacaville, CA; son, Jerry Norman Jr. (Julie) of Moville, IA; brother, Dave Norman; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Lowell Cemetery. She was born on October 9, 1938, in Arcadia, Kansas, the daughter of Paul Fowler Coonrod and Mildred Pauline (Davis) Coonrod. Pauline graduated from Arcadia High School as Class Valedictorian in 1956. She later received a Master’s Degree from Pittsburg State University. She worked at many interesting jobs, with her first being at Kress’s when she was a teenager. She also worked as an operator for Bell Telephone, and for the Fort Scott board of Education. Upon completing her degree, she went to work for Girard High School as their Media Specialist. She joined Kenneth Hart in marriage in 1958, and they enjoyed life and traveled. Their marriage later ended in divorce. She later met Mike McKenney and they were together since 1988. Pauline is survived by Mike McKenney, of the home; her sisters, Laura Felt and husband Ronnie, of Fort Scott, and Peggy Broad and husband Eric, of Florida; two brothers, Jerry Coonrod, of Arcadia, and Jack Coonrod and Rick Kirby, of Florida; a sister, Peggy Broad and husband Eric; brothers-in-law, Craig McKenney and wife Dana, Mark McKenney and wife Cindy, Tim McKenney and wife Deb, all of Fort Scott, and Pat McKenney and wife Kathy, of McAllister, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Lisa Proctor and husband Keith, of Compton, Missouri, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother, George. Pauline was compassionate and full of life. She had a heart for cats, and she loved to travel, read, and make jewelry. She was genuinely loved by many and will be truly missed. Graveside services for Pauline will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Large-Pleasant View Cemetery, under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Larry M. Kelley, age 92, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at Freeman Hospital West on Monday, February 19, 2024. Larry was born July 4, 1931 to Rev. Thurman and Dora Kelley in Cassville, Mo. Larry resided at Silver Creek Assisted Living Center for the last 22 years. He was employed with Mason-Woodard Mortuary for 22 years. Larry attended Forest Park Baptist Church. He was an avid collector of model trucks and was very proud of his extensive collection. Larry was preceded in death by his parents as well as three brothers in law, Henry Kost, Jim Conger, and Rick Setser. Survivors include three sisters, Ruth Kost, Judy Phillips (Gary), and Linda Setser, all of Joplin. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Greg Kost (Cindy), Jane Autry (Steve), Scott Phillips (Marlene), Steve Phillips (Kelly), Kelli Lawson (Mike), Lance Phillips, Brad Conger (Melissa), and numerous great nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.

Shawndra Rachele Waits Clark, age 44, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.Shawndra was born Thursday, February 22, 1979 to Richard Waits and Deborah Kay Waits Smith in Joplin, Missouri. She graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1997. Her family remembers her as being an amazing daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved her grandson fiercely, as well as her dogs Mo Money, and Lucy Lou.Surviving Shawndra are her mother Deborah Waits Smith; husband Dustin Clark; daughter Siarra Clark; grandson Heath; and her best friend Erin Coons.She was preceded in death by her father Richard Waits, mother-in-law Caroline Raye Rowton, great grandma Betty, and great grandpa William Dunlap.Cremation arrangements are being handled by Derfelt Funeral Home of Columbus, Kansas. The family will host a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help cover final expenses.

Jordan on June 19, 1955, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2016. Aldena graduated from Kokomo High School in 1945. She attended Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO, graduating from Lincoln Christian College in 1954. She worked alongside her husband at Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, TN as a volunteer for over four years. She was a charter member of the Judson Road Christian Church formerly the Kokomo Church of Christ. Aldena was active in the Christian Church and served in many capacities over the years. Aldena is survived by her children, Mr. Jeffrey (Ann) Jordan, Mrs. Dena (Jim) Deweese, Mr. Gary Jordan, and Mr. David (Lisa) Jordan; grandchildren, Paul, Phillip, Racheal, Jonathan, David, Marisa and Bethany; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Monelle Bevington; four nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Mona and Bill Tullis. A funeral service will take place at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home, 1315 W Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with her son Pastor David Jordan officiating.
