SSG Arthur Souza, USAF Retired, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 2, 2023. SSG Souza was born in Fall River, Mass to the late Joseph Souza and Maria Arruda Souza. He retired from the US Air Force and later from the US Postal Service. Arthur was an avid golfer and also enjoyed bowling. He was a huge USC Gamecock fan. Arthur had an outgoing personality tempered with a respectful demeanor. He was also a good cook. Surviving are two sons, Mark Souza with wife Jan, and Steve Souza; a daughter, Lisa Souza; a grandson, Anthony Cheslak with wife Michaela; and three great-grandsons, Wade Cheslak, Wilder Cheslak, and Gabriel Cheslak. Graveside services, with Military Honors, will be 11 o'clock Monday at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. (July 23, 1934 - November 17, 2023 Ethel Mae Manley Maze, 89, of Mauldin, SC departed this earthly life on Friday, November 17, 2023 and reached her final destination, the Kingdom of God and is in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Ethel was born in Greenville, SC on July 23,1934 to the late Buster J. Manley and Nellie L. Hughes Manley. She grew up in the Dunean community, just one street over from Tremont Avenue Church of God which she attended throughout her life, making many life-long friends still loyal to this day. Tremont is also where she met R. V. (Rudolph) Maze, the love of her life and husband for 65 years until his passing on January 9, 2023. Ethel lived her life serving others. She said that was her calling", which she answered with a servant's heart and gave all that she had. She provided transportation to church and doctor's appointments, ran errands, cleaned houses, and cooked meals for those in need. She never complained, boasted, or even spoke of her deeds. It was just all in a day's work in her life's mission. She was a breast cancer survivor and a caregiver for her Mother and sister during their battles with the disease; she was a dependable, loyal, faithful friend, and prayer warrior. She was a great cook and an amazing baker, widely known for her cakes, marshmallow fudge brownies, and trays of assorted desserts around the holidays. She loved baking for others; whether it was a special day or just to brighten someone's day and let them know she was thinking about them. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, R. V. Maze and her older sister Mary Bennett, aka the trusty sidekick of She is survived by a son, Rudolph Vinson Maze (Connie); daughter, Tammy Maze-Derfler (Terrence); granddaughter, Samantha Shannon Davis (Cody); brothers, Richard Earl Manley and Ronnie Jerry Manley. Services will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 at Mauldin Church of God, 411 East Butler Rd, Mauldin, SC 29662. Visitation from 10:30 am - 11:45 am. Service at 12:00 pm and burial following at Graceland Cemetery West, 4814 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611. Charles Watson Ten Eick, Jr. , 92, husband of the late Mary Anna Hamilton Ten Eick, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Mr. Ten Eick was born in Hollywood, FL to the late Charles Watson Ten Eick, Sr. and Lt. Mary Nunez Ten Eick. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, serving with the 717 AC&W SQ at Tatalina A. F. S. , Alaska, and a member of American Legion Post #3. Watson was a graduate of Georgia Tech with a BSIE degree and a member of AIIE Chapter 247 in Greenville since 1960. Mr. Ten Eick along with Mary and their first child moved to Greenville in 1960. Having worked for Singer MFG, JP Stevens, and Abbott Labs, Watson retired as an industrial engineer with Digital Equipment in 1992. He enjoyed bird watching and photography. He loved history and was an avid swimmer. Watson's father was Postmaster in Hollywood as a result Watson loved stamp collecting in his youth. Surviving are two sons, CPT (Ret. ) C. W. Ten Eick III with wife Eileen, and James Ten Eick; a daughter, Carol Ayers with husband Jack; and five grandchildren, Charles Ten Eick IV, Jackson Ayers, Pate Ayers, William Ten Eick, Kate Ten Eick, and two nieces Deborah Clark and Barbara Enyard of Inglis, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, LTC (Ret. ) Robert W. Ten Eick of Crystal River, FL; and a daughter-in-law, Meredith Ten Eick. The family will receive friends between 11 a. m. and 1 p. m. Saturday, December 2 , at Fletcher Funeral Home in Fountain Inn, SC. The burial, with Military Honors, will be 1 o'clock Friday, December 15 , at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
