Dr. William D. Nugent

Dr. William D. Nugent of Liverpool, NY, Thousand Island Park, NY and Cape Coral, FL died peacefully in his sleep on February 24, 2024. He was born on September 30, 1929 to Elsie Louise Cleland and Walter Backus Nugent in Heuvelton, NY. He attended school there until age 16, when he left to begin the winding road to medicine. Dr. Nugent graduated medical school (Upstate Medical Center) in 1957 to become a dedicated anesthesiologist for The Anesthesia Group PC at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY until 2005. He retired at 76, a life saver and a hero to many. During his tenure, he served as president of the American Heart Association (NY Chapter), and President of the NYSSA (New York State Society of Anesthesiologists) as well as the neighborhood expert medical opinion during his off-hours. He loved to ski and was a longtime member of the National Ski Patrol. Dr. Nugent was also a lifetime member of the Grasse River Outdoors Club, where he spent quality time and formed many deep friendships. He was an avid hunter, lover of water, ducks and dogs. And he was loved back by all the dogs. Dr. Nugent was also a carved wood duck collector and wildlife enthusiast. “Doc” loved his hours spent on the St. Lawrence River and on Wellesley Island watching the comings and goings of his beloved family. During his winters, he enjoyed watching the mullet jump in the sun out of the Ernesto Canal in Cape Coral, Florida. Dr. Nugent is predeceased by his parents, Walter Nugent, Elsie Nugent and his sister, Beverly M. Nugent. Dr. Nugent is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of almost 52 years, Donna L. (Smith) Nugent. His eight children; Kim L. Nugent (Tom Elliott), William (Britt) Nugent (Judy Polanco), Kelly T. Nugent (Bill Badger), Kristin D. Mancuso (Joe), Megan L. Gruppe (Jamie), Keri L. Heitman (Frank), Ryan P. Nugent (Melissa), Patrick C. Nugent (Amanda), 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. "Jean (Snell) Hale, 92, of Liverpool entered into eternal rest on Saturday 2/17/24 with family by her side after a long illness. Jean was born in Massachusetts and raised in Kents Hill, Maine. She moved to Syracuse in the 60’s, where she worked for the North Syracuse School district and later worked several years for Tringali Piano and Organ while she raised her family. After retiring she enjoyed traveling the country with her predeceased companion of 35 years, Pete Petrie, in his motorhome. Jean loved spending time with her loving family and friends, playing piano, dancing, snuggling with her fur babies, knitting \u0026amp; crocheting for her grandchildren, playing cards, dominos, and Farkle, going on cruises, and of course visiting Maine and enjoying “Lobsta”. Her life was blessed, fulfilling and complete. With her mission complete here on earth, Jean will be returning to Maine as her final resting place. She has left us with beautiful memories of our shared time together, which we will forever treasure, while she lives on in heaven with all those she has missed. Predeceased by her parents, Merle Snell and Muriel (McGaffey) Snell. Also predeceased by her companion of 35 years, Pete Petrie; and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Seguin. She leaves behind her loving children, Patricia Dishaw, Brian Blaisdell (Laurie), Pamela LaBarge (Don), Leanne Fuoco (Nino); her grandchildren whom she cherished, Melissa LaDuke, Eric and Neil Blaisdell, Aaron Fuoco, Cameron and Jacob LaBarge; six great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Friday, from 5 to 7 pm with a prayer service to follow at 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial to be in the spring at Kents Hill Cemetery in Kents Hill, Maine."

Robert F. Yeddo, 83, of Liverpool formerly of Baldwinsville, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday February 24, 2024 at The Cottages at Garden Grove with his family by his side. Born and raised in Malone, New York, Bob graduated from Franklin Academy High School and proudly served in the Air Force. He lived the rest of his life in the Syracuse area with his beloved wife. Bob enjoyed listening to the music of the 50's and 60's, watching westerns and going out to eat. He was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants and SU basketball. He loved sweets especially ice cream. He was the most loving, caring and gentle person. Robert is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Ruth Bogart Yeddo; siblings, Donald Yeddo, Beatrice Brooks, Carol Yeddo, Richard Yeddo, Glenn Foster, and Dolores Belthazard. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pamala; daughter, Candith (Bob) Block, of Baldwinsville; sisters, Pat, June, and Phyllis Yeddo of Malone and Rose Brooks of Gainsville, FL; numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held, Thursday, February 29 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

"Adrian Bertelli, 89, of North Syracuse, passed away Thursday February 15, 2024 at Elderwood of Liverpool. Born in Preore, Trentino, Italy, May 21, 1934 to the late Pietro and Maria (Fontanazzi) Bertelli, immigrating as a family to the US in 1948. He graduated from Vocational High School and served with the US Army with 32 years of combined active duty during the Vietnam War and Reserve duty, retiring as 1st Master Sergeant. He was a Chemical Operator at Allied Chemical for 32 years and a Machine Operator at Church and Dwight for 5 years before retiring. Adrian was a member of The Tyrol Club of Solvay, the United Steelworkers of America, the Geddes Veterans Association, the Stanley B. Pennock VFW Post 2893 and a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. He was predeceased by his brothers, Adolph and Claudio and his sister, Gianna. He is survived by his wife, Carol (McConnell); son, Robert; daughter, Jill; grandchildren, Brittany, Jared and Alec Bertelli; 3 great-grandchildren; step-son, Michael (Mary) Reed; step-daughters, Cherie (Doug) Jean and Kelly (David) Roe; 6 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Tuesday, February 20th at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue, Solvay. Elizabeth “Betty” L. Walz, 91, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully Monday, February 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Rochester, NY on March 16, 1932. She was educated in the Catholic school system, graduating from Mercy High School. After graduation she went on to earn her R.N. degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. After moving to Syracuse, she worked part time in labor and delivery at St. Mary’s Hospital on Court St. in Syracuse, NY. After the closing of St. Mary’s Hospital, she went on to work at St. Camillus Nursing Home and the Syracuse Developmental Center.Besides being a very caring and compassionate Nurse, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to sew, read, and babysit any chance she could. She was all about family. Betty met her husband Tom at Carter Playground in Rochester when they were in grammar school. They were later married at St. Andrews Church in Rochester.She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Thomas, her children; Tom (Bonnie) of Brandon, FL, Donna (Jim) Sprague of Liverpool, Jerry of Liverpool, Beth (Dave) Forbes of Liverpool, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, February 16, 2024 in the Catholic Family of Epiphany Church, (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church) 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
