Arthur (Leo) LaChance passed away in his home on October 4, 2023, at the age of 91 Arthur was born and raised in Richmond, Maine, by his father, Arthur John LaChance, and mother, Natalie (Meserve) LaChance He graduated from Richmond High School in 1951 and promptly joined the Navy After the Navy, he attended Husson College in Bangor and graduated with a business degree in 1959 Arthur had a love for math - it wasn't unusual for him to offer to do your taxes, even if you never asked Arthur started his career as a teacher and coach at Old Orchard Beach High School and remained there until his retirement Post-retirement, the Old Orchard Beach Varsity Baseball Field was dedicated to him as a testament to his commitment to the town, the school, and the art of coaching Arthur was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, clamming, foraging, and passed this love onto his descendants When he wasn't at home, you could find him at Barker's Pond, where for close to 60 years, he and his family welcomed guests from all over to camp, swim, boat, fish, play horseshoes, or compete in a rambunctious game of wiffle ball Even with his marked career and contributions to the Old Orchard Beach community, Arthur's greatest accomplishment, by far, was marrying his high school sweetheart, Carolyn (Bishop) LaChance Married for over 60 years, they produced the greatest legacy a man can leave behind - a family that has grown with time, in physical size and in love He and Carolyn are survived by seven children: Linda McPherson and husband, Paul McPherson of Hampden, Maine; Arthur (Leo) LaChance, Jr of Biddeford, Maine; George LaChance and wife, Stacey LaChance of Calabash, North Carolina; Larry LaChance and wife, Bonnie LaChance of Dayton, Maine, who opened their home and care to Arthur in his final years; Alma Shevenell and husband, Leonard Shevenell of Brunswick, Maine; Laura Bolduc and partner, Maryellen Moore of Summerfield, Florida; and Thomas LaChance and wife, Jocelyn LaChance of Lyman, Maine The LaChance family has been fortunate to welcome 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren into the fold Arthur is predeceased by his wife, Carolyn LaChance; his sisters Shirley Sullivan and Carole Ryan; and grandchildren Shelby Bolduc and Ryan LaChance Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, October 10, from 4-7pm at Dennett, Craig and Pate in Saco, Maine A memorial service will be held at St Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach on Wednesday, October 11 at 11am To to the family or in memory of Arthur (Leo) LaChance, please

Lois Ann Webber HansonGREENSBORO - Lois Ann (Webber) Hanson passed away at age 95 on February 23, 2022, after a long and wonderful life. Lo was born on August 23, 1926, and raised in Richmond, Maine by her parents, Wesley and Pauline Webber. She attended Richmond schools, and then attended the University of Maine where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She met Robert A. Hanson there at the University and they were married on September 10, 1946. Their son Robert (Bob) was born in Maine on Sept. 8, 1947, and their daughter Kit was born on Feb. 5, 1949. Upon their graduations, they relocated to New Jersey where they had their third child Sven, born on March 18, 1957. Lo was introduced to golf at age 30, and she had a love of the sport for the rest of her life. She had an excellent game, and eventually became Club Champion at Starmount Country Club. Phyllis passed away peacefully at home with family on October 3, 2021 after a happy, well-lived life. She was born April 21, 1929 in Gardiner, the daughter of Richard and Gertrude (Moore) Strout of Richmond. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Richard; and her beloved husband, Robert E. Pushard, Sr. After graduating from Richmond High School in 1946, Phyllis began a 40-year career with New England Telephone, retiring in 1986. She was a proud member of the DAR, the Telephone Pioneers, and the Maine Troop Greeters, and she greatly enjoyed Bob's years as a Shriner in the Anah Mini Bike Unit. She and Bob were avid RVers in their retirement years, touring the country and experiencing many adventures with their friends. She was also a member of the Silver Saints at Crosspoint Church in Bangor. She is survived by her children, Bob and Diane Pushard of Dedham, and Richard Pushard of Bar Harbor; her grandchildren, Rob and Beth Pushard of Lacey, Washington, and Jim and Jill Pushard of Eddington; her great-grandchildren, Lena and Baxter; her niece, Amy Strout Hogan of Brunswick; her "Third Son", Richard Rackliffe and his wife, Christine, of Bangor; and many special friends and lunch companions including Carolyn, Clayton, and Pearl. Phyllis and her family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the medical staff at St. Joseph Health Care, the wonderful providers at St Joseph Hospice, the folks at the Anemia Center at Northern Light Healthcare, and the pastoral team at Crosspoint Church. Richmond, Maine -Amanda Mae Wogaman-Hunt, 33, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021 surrounded by family after injuries sustained in a car accident. She was born on March 27, 1988 in Concord, New Hampshire the loving daughter of Dennis and Sharon Wogaman. Amanda grew up in Littleton, NH and went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Unity College. She later earned her Master's Degree from The University of Southern Maine. She had great joy in guiding students as a counselor at the Harpswell Coastal Academy and spent the last 15 years at The Summer Camp for girls mentoring both campers and staff. Amanda enjoyed hiking, camping, swimming in the ocean, nature, making people smile and particularly being a mother. She is survived by her devoted husband Patrick Hunt of Richmond, children Ramona and Francis of Richmond, parents Dennis and Sharon Wogaman of Littleton, New Hampshire, mother and father in-laws Sue and Trevor Hunt of Topsham, sister Johanna (Travis) McCormick of Ohio, nephews and niece Conner, Wesley, Evelyn, in-laws Natalie Hunt, Elliot (Sarah) Hunt, and Stuart Hunt. He was known for his green thumb, being an animal lover, and particularly being Muhammad Ali's greatest fan. John enjoyed time spent at home with family, especially time with his grandson, his best buddy. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Palermo. She gladly gave of herself for over six decades to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. On June 28 of 1969 she married Michael C. Bodge and they remained together for 52 adventurous years of love. In her later years she enjoyed crosswords, jigsaw puzzles, and rousing family canasta nights. Always enjoying anything and everything involving her grand and great grandkids to whom she was known for her bracing hugs and kiss showers. Sandra was known as a hard-working, trustworthy, and dedicated employee and manager in several varied occupations before her retirement years. In retirement Sandy and Michael set forth on cross-country adventures in the motorhome where they visited 44 different States constantly visiting friends and family along the way. She enjoyed her time in Florida during her retirement. Shirley also enjoyed walking, dancing, crafts, and especially time spent with her family. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Bruce Bickford, parents, brothers Thurman, Lloyd, Forrest, and Leon Skelton, sisters Alma O'Neil, Carmalene Lancaster and Eunice Cirer. Her devotion to family and being a caregiver began at an early age. She gladly gave of herself for over six decades to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She attended a one-room school in Bowdoin and later graduated from Brunswick High School. Shirley went on to work as a beautician and owned her own shop in Bowdoin from 1977 until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed her time in Florida during her retirement. Shirley also enjoyed walking, dancing, crafts, and especially time spent with her family. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Bruce Bickford, parents, brothers Thurman, Lloyd, Forrest, and Leon Skelton, sisters Alma O'Neil, Carmalene Lancaster and Eunice Cirer. She is survived by a daughter Rebecca Doughty of Lisbon Falls, son Randall Bickford and wife Marcia of Lisbon Falls, sisters Pearl Roberts of Lisbon Falls, Clarinda Gray of Brunswick, grandchildren Jaime Pinard, Chad Doughty, Brittany Burnham, Jay Bickford, Keith Bickford, and 10 great grandchildren. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, June 24 at 11am at West Bowdoin Cemetery, West Bowdoin. Mississippi-On Monday, March 15, 2021, Bradley L. Young, of Bowdoin, loving husband and father was called home to rest at age 79. Brad was born on January 17, 1942 in Brunswick, Maine to S. Lewis and Mary (Small) Young. He worked at US Gysum, as a Tinsmith Supervisor at BIW and as a truck driver, hauling cars throughout New England. His extensive travel earned him the family keeper of all shortcut routes to any destination along the east coast. On July 3, 1965 he married Evelyn Small. A true family man, who would give the LLBean flannel shirt off of his back, celebrated he and Evelyn's 50th wedding anniversary among 5 generations of family in 2015. He and Evelyn lived in Bowdoin and spent time yard-saling, eating out, and attending many fairs to watch horse pulling. Brad had a love for old western movies (and John Wayne) and could watch them for hours. Brad loved family gatherings, holding many informal night and weekend get-togethers in his own garage. You could always count on a full beverage fridge and an open door. Wearing his cowboy hat, he was always the life of the party. He had a fondness for buying and selling ponies, and pulling them. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons, passing on his passion in story and real time. Brad was skilled in metal fabrication, building trailers, truck bodies, and plant hangers to name a few. He helped local farmers by trucking and selling thousands of cedar posts from Northern Maine. In retirement, working with wood he built and sold many raised garden beds and boot jacks, but above all, one of "Pa's" greatest joys was his grandchildren (and great grandchildren). Whether he was telling stories, sharing humorous songs and rhymes or showing them collected treasures, he reveled in time spent with them. Brad was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Larry, son-in-law Dean Cornish, and brother-in-law Vernon Harmon. Ron attended Freeport High School and graduated from Edward Little in Lewiston in 1972. He went into the air force and earned his college degree in accounting. For the last ten years he greatly enjoyed working part-time at K & G Hardware in Richmond. He loved his customers and co-workers and took great pride in good service. While employed by the State of Maine, Dorothy met and married Edward "Ted" Pickard in Dresden and was married for 45 years before he passed. She resided in Gloversville, New York before moving to New Hampshire. Dotty was employed for seven years in Accounts receivable / Payable doing clerical work until 1995 when she retired. Elaine married Donald E. Pomelow, Sr. on June 1, 1958. They lived in Lisbon Falls for many years until they moved to Bowdoin in the early 1980's. Elaine was a homemaker for most of her life; she worked for a couple of years alongside her son and daughter-in-law at the Midtown Diner and sold Avon for many years. Elaine crocheted afghans, hats, socks, and enjoyed sewing quilts. She loved bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She watched deer in the garden from her recliner. Other favorite pastimes included talking on the CB Radio shopping and having coffee with family and friends. Elaine was "on-the-go" most of her retired years; often being referred to as the "road-runner". Barbara Evelyn (Gray) Cadrette December 2, 1938 - April 25, 2021 It is with immense sadness that the family of Barbara Cadrette announces her unexpected passing on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the age of 82. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, she enriched the lives of her family and friends and will be forever missed. Barbara was born on December 2, 1938, in Meriden, Connecticut, to Grace and Bertram Gray. After the death of her father Bertram in WWII, her loving stepfather Harold Kirdahey raised her. Barbara was the oldest of three children, survived by her sister Althea Fournier; her brother Peter Kirdahey predeceased her in 1977. Her loving husband Ronald S. Cadrette also predeceased her in 2003. Barbara cherished her years as a Sunday school teacher at the Dresden Richmond United Methodist Church in Richmond, Maine. She was also a very active member with Crossroads Community Church in Michigan. Barbara fed many of the Richmond "northend" children and continued that caring mission helping with Crossroads Church food truck ministry, Barbara never lost her Methodist roots and enjoyed supporting the work of the local food/clothing ministry with the Blue Water Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing. Barbara sang with Dresden Richmond United Methodist Church choir before relocating to St. Clair and joining the St. Clair Community Singers. She was predeceased by her husband and sons Gilbert "Bitsy" Tarbox and David Tarbox, brothers Winfield, Maurice and Kenneth Millett, Floyd, George, Jessie, Fred, Herman and William Jellison. Ruby is survived by her son Dean Tarbox, granddaughters Lindsay Tarbox, Allison Tarbox and companion Josh Wilkinson, Amanda Asfahl and husband Justin, great grandchildren Dustin, Avery, Brody, Griffin, a daughter in-law, sister's in-law, several nieces and nephews. Ruby worked at Common Wealth Shoe, Etonic Shoe, Yankee Candle and IGA. She loved her family and many life long friends. Ruby was totally committed to the Richmond community where she lived over 70 years. Ruby enjoyed square dancing, camping, reading, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and especially cooking her peanut butter fudge. A graveside service will be on Saturday, May 15th at 2pm at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Dresden. He was born in a small log cabin his father built in the woods of northern Wisconsin. George attended a one-room school for two years and then attended Birchwood Schools where he graduated as valedictorian of his class of 18. He met and married Joan McEathron when they were 18. They had three children and were married for 55 years. George received his Ph.D. degree on the homing behavior of cutthroat trout in Yellowstone National Park. He served as a naturalist in Yellowstone, and taught at several universities, including Cal Poly, Universidad Simon Bolivar in Venezuela, and the Universities of Maine and Vermont. For 19 years at UVM he taught fisheries biology, ichthyology, and water resources, and conducted research on fisheries ecology on Lake Champlain. In 1995, George took the position of Head of the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources at the University of Idaho. During George's 34-year academic career he published nearly 50 scientific papers and directed 40 MS and Ph.D. students. On retirement, George and Joan spent two years visiting 311 National Wildlife Refuges in 49 states, resulting in his book "The RVers Guide to the National Wildlife Refuges." George and Joan then moved to Montana, and in 2015 moved to Maine. Unfortunately, Joan passed away only ten months later. George was an active outdoorsman who loved fishing and fly tying, hunting deer and upland game, hiking, birding and skiing. He had a beautiful tenor voice and belonged to classical choruses in California, Venezuela, Vermont, Idaho, Montana, and Maine. Whenever possible the LaBars had one or more dogs as part of their family. George was survived by his three children Laureen (Scott Murray, Maine), George Jr. (Leslie, Alaska) and Pauline LaBar-Shelton (Christopher, New Mexico); and by his three brothers, Martin, David, and Arthur, and their wives. George lived to see many giant leaps forward for humankind: the discovery of plate tectonics and DNA, the invention of the microchip, and the landing of humans on the moon. Unfortunately, he did not live long enough to see an effective U.S. Congress. George's memorial service will be held on May 22 at 11:00 eastern time at the Wiscasset, Maine, First Congregational Church. The service will be live streamed. Donations in George's memory to Doctors Without Borders would be appreciated. Wiscasset- Linden C. Simmons, 82, of Wiscasset, Maine, passed away on April 15, 2021 at his home on the Foye Rd. West Gardiner- Leon E Allen Jr, 73 of West Gardiner passed away at MaineGeneral Medical Center on April 8 with his daughters Vicki Rodrigue and Ann-Marie Pelletier by his side. He was born in Gardiner, ME on Feb 15, 1948 to Leon E Allen Sr. and Geneva (Peakall) (Allen) Flewelling. He graduated Gardner Area High School in 1966. He retired from the State of Maine, Department of Transportation and his last retirement was from McGee Construction. He was a 25 Year member of the Valley of Augusta Scottish Rite and received his 32 Degree. He was a Master Mason of the Morning Star Lodge #0041 and affiliate of the Hermon Lodge #0032. He held officer positions from 1994 to present which included Junior Deacon, Senior Deacon, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Master; Morning Star Lodge; 11 District, District Education Representative; 11 District, Marshal, District Deputy Grand Master; 11 District, Chaplain and Finance Committee. He received the Masonic Ambassador Award, 20 Year Service Pin and 25 Year Service Pin. He was in the Shrine from 1995-2002. He was also a member of The American Legion Post 132 and a member of the Augusta Elks Lodge #964. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Parish. He was a devoted husband to Dorothy Allen for 34 years. She was his high school sweetheart and was so happy to have found each other again after their previous marriages. Leon was predeceased by his father, Leon E Allen Sr., mother Geneva (Peakall) (Allen) Flewelling and step father Robert Flewelling. A son, Scott B Allen and a sister in law, Marilyn Allen and niece Tammy Allen. Richmond - Elwin Page, 65, of Richmond, passed away on April 9 after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Elwin loved spending time with his family and helping people when he could. He also enjoyed playing bingo, corn hole, card games and having BBQ's.
