Arthur Dennis Kinney, Jr. , age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Arthur was born January 5, 1933, in Trenton, NJ. He attended secondary school at Peabody High School and Fork Union Military Academy in Pittsburgh. He played football, and joined the Sigma Chi fraternity, at Bucknell University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1956. Arthur served two terms as Captain in the US Army in the late 1950's and early 1960's. Arthur's 35-year career at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, later to become Cigna Financial Corporation, spanned offices in Pittsburgh, PA, Rochester, NY and Chicago, IL. His roles grew from Sales Manager to Executive Vice President at the time of his retirement in 1991. Arthur, a devoted supporter of Bucknell University, served on the Bucknell Board of Trustees from 1984 to 2005, and as an Emeritus Trustee until his death. Arthur spearheaded Bucknell's highly successful fundraising campaign from 1995 to 2000. The Arthur D. Kinney Jr. Natatorium was dedicated in his honor in 2002. Arthur received the highly prestigious Stephen B. Taylor Medal, the university's highest honor awarded to those who render extraordinary service to Bucknell. A lay leader at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Barrington, IL, Arthur served two terms as Sr. Warden, as well as on many ministries. He was a kindhearted, generous, genuine friend to many. Throughout his life, Arthur most prominent characteristics were loyalty and an incredible sense of humor, both of which permeated all aspects of his life. He was a friend and mentor to many. The most common remembrances of Art invariably include how much he supported others and his ability to make people laugh. Arthur is survived by his loving children Douglas Kinney (Edmee DekHuyzen), Laura Kinney (Artie Maidman), and Christopher Kinney; and grandchildren Julia Kinney, Marielle Kinney, Stephen Kinney, Benjamin Maidman, Erin Maidman, Grace Kinney and Sage Kinney. A memorial service for Arthur will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 647 Dundee Ave, Barrington, IL 60010. A reception will immediately follow at Lake Barrington Shores Recreation Center, 40 Shoreline Drive, Lake Barrington, IL 60010. Frank Lyons, 93 years, of Barrington, Il, passed away on December 2, 2023, after a long and fulfilling life. A visitation and mass of Christian burial will be at a future date at St. Pius X in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X in Rock Island or the Rita Rose Lyons Endowed Scholarship at St. John's University, Collegeville, MN. Frank was born on April 8, 1930 on a farm in Yankton County South Dakota, the son of William and Mary (Donohoe) Lyons. Frank graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, SD where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation he worked at the Fairbanks Morse Co. in Beloit WI before being drafted into the U. S. Army. He served as an engineer at the U. S. Army Chemical Center near Baltimore, MD After discharge from the Army, Frank worked for the John Deere Company for 31 years in Rock Island and Heidelberg, Germany. Frank worked for Deere on projects around the world planning and constructing factories and foundries. He retired in 1986. He then founded Emerald Associates, Inc. , a manufacturing consulting company. After a successful decade of running the company he sold it in 1996. In retirement he remained active with many years of service volunteering at SCORE, a non-profit business consulting organization. Frank's passion was writing and learning. He published several books and continued to read and learn the rest of his life. He also enjoyed restoring antique British cars. He was an extensive traveler and an enthusiastic conversationalist. Frank moved to The Garlands in Barrington, IL in 2020. In 1957 he married Rita Rose (Lerch) Lyons. They met at Deere where she was also employed. After her untimely death in 1992 Frank married Jean Monier, who he had met during his time stationed in the Army in Baltimore. His greatest passions were his relationships with his immediate large Irish family and his many friends. A quote from one of his books summarizes his life well as written by the poet Yeats in Those Dancing Days are Gone - I carry the sun in a golden cup, The moon in a silver bag. William Charles Clark, Jr. , known affectionately as "Bill," of Crystal Lake, and previously a long-time resident of McHenry County, passed away peacefully at his home on November 30, 2023, at the age of 93. Born on October 3, 1930, in McHenry County, Bill was the eldest son of the late William Charles, Sr. and Anna (nee Dierker) Clark. A proud veteran, he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Bill was not only a dedicated mason and laborer but also a man who cherished the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and baking. He found immense joy in spending time with his family and friends and was known for his generous spirit and outgoing nature, which endeared him to many. Bill is lovingly survived by his partner and devoted companion, Patricia Krempel, and her family; his daughter, Theresa Clark; stepdaughters Cindy (Oliver) Clark and Gyronne (Teague) Ponio; grandchildren Nicolas Morales, Daniel and Ryan Shapiro, Jaiden Diggs, and Sarah Clark; his sister, Bernice Hironimus; and many nieces and nephews. Timothy James Dunn, aka Boss (known by his peers) or Bossy (known by his grandchildren), a lifelong resident of Barrington, passed away on November 30, 2023 at the age of 72, leaving behind a profound legacy. He is survived by his wife Chris, daughters Erin and Emily, son-in-laws Ryan and Anton, and beloved grandchildren Grace, Rosie, Brooks and Henry. Tim's life was marked by dedication to family, faith, country, community service and education. Tim attended St. Anne's school in Barrington, leading to Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein on a football scholarship. It was at Carmel where he met Chris, his future wife of over 50 years. He earned his bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University and masters degree from Northwestern, forging lifelong friendships and a deep commitment to public service and American values. Tim began teaching at Barrington High School in the late 1980's where he taught U. S. History and served as the Department Head. His influence extended beyond the classroom to the wrestling mat and the football field, where he instilled his values of sportsmanship, integrity, and was inducted into the Coaches Hall of Fame. His passion for teaching was matched only by his dedication to his athletes and students. He loved fishing, and established the Barrington Anglers Club that provided students and teachers the opportunity to fish locally, regionally and in Canada. Tim's faith played a significant role in his life. Involved with St. Anne's Catholic Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also received his certificate of Basic Bible Studies from Loyola University. Tim also served on the the Village Board of Barrington as a trustee for 12 years. He exemplified a life of service and compassion. Known for his generosity, Tim was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, and three more from his closet. His love for cooking, grilling and sharing meals became his signature way of connecting with people, whether they were close friends, family, or new acquaintances. Tim's legacy of patriotism, dedication, and community spirit, enriched by his love, wisdom, and belief in American Values will continue to inspire and guide us all. A visitation will be held from 2 - 8pm on Friday, December 8th at Davenport Family Funeral home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich. The visitation will resume at 9am until 11am at St. Anne's Catholic Church at 120 N. Ela St. Barrington until the funeral mass. Interment will be private. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Mr. Joseph "Joe" Luciani, who passed away on December 02, 2023 in Barrington, Illinois. Always finding the small things to laugh about, Joe was the light of our lives. He was always so full of determination and grit. You could find Joe tinkering, building, or restoring model trains and airplanes in his spare time and deeply loving his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It was impossible not to be drawn in by his infectious laugh, wisdom, and passion for all he believed in and loved. Joe was always very motivated and set outstanding goals for himself. Joe set out to be the first college graduate in his family which he achieved when he graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. Joe then began his career as a Civil Engineer working for Blauvelt Engineering, Sydney B. Bowne Surveyors, Lizza & Sons, and finally, ended his career as the Corporate VP of Land Development with Centex Homes. After his retirement in 2003, Joe volunteered at the Illinois Railway Museum where he helped to restore old train cars back to their original condition. You could also find Joe in his basement running his model trains, analyzing maps and numbers, and creating new additions to his incredible hobby train layout. Most often, you would find Joe enamored of his loving wife, Carol, with whom he deeply enjoyed exploring the world with. Joe was extremely proud of his five children, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren all of whom affectionately adored him. He was immensely proud of the legacy he created and we are forever grateful that he was ours. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Michelle Lee Filardi (nee Stanley), age 53, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Michelle was born in Van Nuys, CA on September 5, 1970. She moved to Bolingbrook, IL in 1976 with her family where she graduated from Bolingbrook highschool in 1988. There she met and married Tony Filardi Sr. , and together they had 3 wonderful children; raising their family in Crystal Lake Illinois. Michelle worked for Marshall, Gerstein, and Borun in Chicago for many years before joining AbbVie as a Patent Prosecution Paralegal. Michelle loved spending time with her family and singing karaoke whenever she could. She also had a great love of animals, especially her grandpuppies Goose, Aurora, and Apollo. She had the most special gift of bringing joy and happiness to those around her, and the most contagious, amazing laugh; She absolutely loved to make others laugh as well. Michelle is survived by her loving children, Angela, James, and Anthony Filardi; parents, Leonard and Karen Stanley; brother, Jeff Stanley; and former husband Tony Filardi.
