Arnold Godwin Obituary

Arnold Godwin, formerly of East Ridge, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023. Arnold was a graduate of City High School and the University of Chattanooga (now UTC). He retired from Chattem, Inc. after serving there for 38 years. His work ethic was above reproach and set an example for his children, grandchildren and those that worked with him. He was a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Shipley class. Arnold was preceded in death by his father and mother, Horton and Ida Belle Godwin; and daughter, Susan Jo Godwin. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Faye Godwin; and daughters, Julie (Kyle) Prescott, Cathy (James) Patterson, and Pam (Brad) Griffey. He loved his family so much and so adored his four grandchildren, Hannah, Andrew and Abby Claire Prescott and Joseph Patterson. He is also survived by sister, Jeanette Frederick; and brothers, Jack Godwin and Ric (Karen) Godwin. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga that cared for him during his lengthy illness. They also have tremendous gratitude for his very trusted caregiver April Lopez and the staff of Caring Senior Service. The family acknowledges the exemplary care provided by these individuals. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to Lakeview First Baptist Church, 10 Hudson St. , Rossville, GA 30741. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 11, from 5:00 - 8:00 p. m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home - East Chapel.
