"ARLEY LEE SCHOMAKER 1934 - 2023 Arley Lee Schomaker was born to Fred and Hazel Irene (Lancaster) Schomaker on May 28, 1934 at Nehawka, NE and departed this life on May 4, 2023 in Plattsmouth, NE, having attained the age of 88 years, 11 months and 6 days. Arley was raised and schooled in Nehawka, attending grade school and high school there, graduating in 1952. He and Norma were high school sweet hearts and married on December 27, 1953 at First Methodist Church in Nebraska City, to this union five children were born. The Schomakers' made their home in Nehawka where Arley operated their grocery store; Schomaker Grocery Store, and Norma taught school. After operating the grocery store for thirty one years, he retired. He and Norma moved to Plattsmouth in 2020, and lived there since. Arley was preceded in by his parents Fred and Hazel and an infant son Chris. Arley is survived by his wife of 69 years: Norma Schomaker of Plattsmouth, daughter: Debra Meyer and husband Kenneth of Plattsmouth, three sons: Brent Schomaker and wife Joleen of Glenwood, IA, Ronald Schomaker and wife Kay Smith of Plattsmouth, Donald Schomaker and wife Lynell of Nebraska City, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A. M. , on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Nehawka United Methodist Church with Pastor Darren Timberlake officiating, and pianists Sue Schlictemeier and Lindsey Schomaker. The Pallbearers will be Jake Curtiss, Ryan Johnson, Nate Meyer, Jeff Schomaker, Chris Snyder, and Craig Snyder. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Dave Meredith, Paul Rice, Kermit Svanda, and Rex Thonen. His Final Resting Place will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Nehawka, NE. Memorials to the Family (a suitable charity will be chosen at a later date).
