"Antonio Felipe Bautista Velarde, 72, of Schuyler died on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a battle with cancer. Services for Antonio will be on Saturday, September 16 at 10 a. m. at Svoboda Funeral Home and a second service held on Saturday at 4 p. m. also at the funeral home. Following the service, Antonio will be buried in Guatemala. "

Ruth Mary Cech, 89, of rural Clarkson, Nebraska passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Visitation will be on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 9:30 a. m. until 10:30 a. m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church-Heun in rural Clarkson, NE. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a. m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at the church. Father Jairo Congote will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with a luncheon to follow in the church basement. Ruth was born on February 20, 1934 near Olean in Colfax County, Nebraska to William & Katherine Grosserhode Pieper. She grew up on a farm Northeast of Howells, NE. She was educated at Sacred Heart Academy in Olean and graduated from Howells Public High School. Ruth was employed in Omaha for several years as a nanny. She then moved back to Howells and was employed as a bookkeeper at Fialas. This is where she met her future husband, Elden Cech. They were married on June 24, 1961 at St. Johns Catholic Church, Howells, NE. They resided in Howells until 1971 and then moved to the Cech family farm where they have lived for over 50 years. While raising their six children Ruth also assisted a great deal with farm work. However, her top priorities were always faith and family and she was a perfect example of patience, kindness, and selflessness toward everyone she knew. She was a member of Holy Trinity Heun for over 50 years. Through the years she volunteered for many parish events and belonged to Heun Alter Society and the church choir. She also was a member of a local extension club, and enjoyed assisting with election work every four years. Ruth loved working and spending time outdoors. She was an excellent baker and she spoiled her family and friends with some of the best horn rolls and kolaches around. She loved playing the piano, singing, playing cards and Rummikub, doing puzzles, and intently listening to and spending time with her grand/great grandchildren. Ernest V. Brabec, 93, of Clarkson, Nebraska, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at Clarkson Community Care Center in Clarkson. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 27 at 10:30 AM, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson with Fr. Matt Gutowski celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM vigil service, all at the church. Visitation continues Friday from 9:30 AM until service time, also at the church. Interment with military honors will be at the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery. Ernest Victor Brabec was born on December 22, 1929, in Stanton, Nebraska, to Charles and Helen (Marik) Brabec. He attended a country school and later graduated from Clarkson High School. Ernest entered the United States Army on January 24, 1952, and served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on October 23, 1953. On February 7, 1956, Ernest was united in marriage to Geraldine Houfek at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Clarkson. The couple was blessed with eight children. Ernest farmed his whole life on the family farm north of Clarkson. He loved his family dearly and maintained his great sense of humor until the very end. Andrew married Shawn Elaine Thompson on December 20, 1986 in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union a daughter, Megan, was born on September 11, 1991. Andy loved doing cross stitch and being with his family. When he and his family lived in Colorado he loved to go camping and fly fishing. Andrew is preceded in death by his parents Thomas in 2001 and Nancy in 2005, his father-in-law David Thompson and great nephew Trayton Thompson. "Margaret Irene Renner (nee Hader), 86, beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully at Parson's House Omaha, NE on July 17 ending a full life of caring, endurance and faithfulness. She was born August 22, 1936, in rural Stanton County to Mina and John Hader. Memorials can be directed towards the Howells Community Catholic School, or to the Donor\u0027s Choice. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 5, at 10:30 a. m. at S. S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Walter Jong-A-Kiem officiating. Family greeting friends will be on Friday, August 4 from 6 until 7 p. m. with a parish vigil service at 7 p. m. all at the church. Burial of Margaret\u0027s ashes will be in the S. S. Peter and Paul Cemetery with a lunch following in the church\u0027s basement social hall. Svoboda Funeral Home is assisting Margaret\u0027s Family with arrangements Margaret graduated from Howells High School and received a teaching certificate from Wayne State. She taught in a one room schoolhouse until her marriage. She married Roman J. Renner in 1961 at Saint Henry\u0027s Catholic Church. Together, they farmed in Cuming County until moving to Howells in 1985, where they renovated a historic home. Margaret had a long and exemplary career at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. She first worked as an aide and then returned to school at the North-East Community College and became a licensed practical nurse / LPN. She continued to work at Parkview until 2015. Margaret continued caring for others into retirement as a volunteer healthcare giver and driver of close friends. She enjoyed gardening, baking, the library, a good newspaper article and cookbooks. She traveled numerous times to Germany to visit relatives. She was an advocate for education, recycling and conservation. She celebrated nature and had a special interest in Native American culture. Margaret was a lifetime member of Saint Peter and Paul and was a past president of the Christian Mothers and taught catechism. She could be found on Saturday evenings frequenting local country parish masses in Olean and Heun. She is survived by all four children: LaDonna Konsel (Omaha); Barbara Shapiro (Richard) (Kansas City); Brenda Coppard (Omaha); David (Brian Rivette) (Salt Lake City); by her sister Barbara Hader, brothers Johnny Hader and Robert Hader (Janice); and by her beloved grandchildren Brett Konsel, Ryan Konsel (Jen), Sarah Shapiro, and Katie Coppard.
