Micheal Theo Johnson was born September 13, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan to Leo and Alice Johnson (both preceding him in death). He was the youngest of six children. Of the six, Harold Johnson, Frances Copprue, and Baron Johnson preceded him in death. Micheal was educated in the Detroit Public School system, where he graduated from Kettering High in 1972. He went on to get his Bachelors of Art in Business Management from Eastern Michigan University. Raised in the church, Micheal stayed close to the Lord and served with gladness. From his youth, he made a joyful noise unto the Lord. Through his love of music and the ability to play various instruments. With a particular love for the piano and organ, the Lord placed him in the music ministry. There, he would become the pillar of many choirs and bands across the Michigan and Ohio area. His church homes included Grace CME, The Bible Church, Christian Life Center, Christian Love Fellowship, World Harvest Church, Bethel AME Church, and Warren AME Church. Micheal's Leadership talents and helpful nature lead him to become the State Director at AT&T in Southfield, Michigan. From there he caught the entrepreneurial spirit and went on to become Franchise Owner/Operator at Town Money Saver in Lucas, Ohio. Micheal took a Sales position at Frontier Communications in Adrian, Michigan. Publishing the magazine, Our Town: Adrian, and using his passion for journalism, helped promote business and community. He ended his work career as Director of Marketing & Special Projects at The Daily Telegram in Adrian, Michigan. Retirement couldn't hold him, he was a doer. He spent his days building businesses, helping others, and sharing his wisdom. Micheal and Brenda met in 3rd grade, and attended their first dance together in junior high. They remained friends throughout high school. Losing touch after entering college, Micheal found and reconnected with Brenda via social media in 2014. He married his soul mate, Brenda Singletary, on New Year's Eve 2016. Micheal was faithfully there giving love and support in pursuit of their personal and professional dreams. He served his family in gladness. Wise, witty, encouraging, and an awesome barbecue sauce, he was always there to help solve any problem. He was dedicated to raising responsible, compassionate adults, that learned how to see people and not through people. Micheal Theo Johnson was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and cherished grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife, Brenda Singletary; two sisters: Carol Johnson of Maryland and Edith Johnson (John) of Detroit, MI; four children: Jeremy Johnson (Megan), Angelica Mister (Marcus), Marcus Johnson, and Emmanuel Bates; eight grandchildren: Jasmine Smith, Elijah Johnson, Luke Johnson, Noah Johnson, Alice Johnson, Julian Mister, Gabriel Mister, Gideon Mister, and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.Show more
