Ida Pandolfo

Ida Pandolfo

Age - 96

October 26, 2023

Ida Pandolfo passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, at the age of 96. Nothing was more important to Ida than her loving family and she was the embodiment of a true matriarch. Born on January 29th, 1927, in San Pietro al Tanagro, Salerno, Italy, she married the love of her life, Giuseppe Pandolfo, and together they had three boys - Tony, Gerry, and Frank. After her husband's unexpected passing, Ida devoted her life to taking care of her family and making sure her children received a good education. After her children all received degrees in education, Ida, Tony, Gerry, and Frank immigrated to the United States in 1970, in search of a better life. Through hard work and determination, Ida and her sons operated The Sicilian Sun Ristorante in Ho-Ho-Kus, N. J. , which served loyal patrons for over 40 years. What started as an eight-table pizzeria with the brothers and Ida (or "Mamma" as patrons lovingly called her) behind the stove quickly grew into a true mainstay in the area. Ida was a constant fixture in the dining room, strolling from table to table, playing with the children, and making sure the adults were enjoying themselves while also ensuring that her sons were keeping true to her recipes. Mamma's cheesecake was always on the menu, and for over 40 years, Ida touched the lives of countless people with whom she enjoyed celebrating their life events as extended family. Ida was the true cornerstone of her family--fiercely loyal, determined, and active in all aspects of her life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will fondly remember her as the guest of honor at weddings, christenings, birthday parties, and communions. Nothing made her happier than hosting family members for Sunday dinners at Nonna's, and nothing made her family happier than spending time with her and enjoying her company and unrivaled cooking. Her family is truly blessed to have spent so many wonderful years with her in good health and to have shared 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren with her. She will be truly missed but remembered with countless memories. All who knew Ida are better off for having her in their lives. Ida is survived by her brothers, Angelo D'Elia and Tony D'Elia, sons Tony (Ann Marie) Pandolfo, Jerry (Joann) Pandolfo, and Frank (Anna) Pandolfo; her grandchildren Joseph (Genevieve) Pandolfo, Andrea (Charles) Messina, Joseph (Danielle) Pandolfo, Dana (Matthew) Ross, and Joseph (Lauren) Pandolfo; and her great-grandchildren Olivia, Isabella, Charles, Giuliana, Matthew, Joseph, Gianluca, and Christopher. A visitation will take place on Friday, October 27th, 2023, at Feeney Funeral Home (232 Franklin Ave, Ridgewood, NJ) between the hours of 5:00PM and 8:00PM. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2023, at the Church of the Presentation (271 W Saddle River Rd, Upper Saddle River, NJ) at 10:00AM. Frederick ("Freddy") Peter Ayers, M. D. , passed away suddenly on October 22, 2023, breaking the hearts of all who knew him. He was born in the Bronx to Walter Ayers and Mary, "Dolly", (Boland) Ayers, on November 12, 1957. Freddy grew up in Parkchester as the youngest of five with four loving sisters. Barbara, Jane, Lori and Terri nominated him as slave for a day, which lasted thirty years. By his own account, he had a very happy childhood. Freddy attended Fordham Prep where he was co-captain of the swim team. Some of his most cherished memories include being a lifeguard at Orchard Beach for eight years where he saved numerous lives from the Drop Monster. He then went on to Fordham University where he met his soul mate, Lisa (Lander) Ayers. They were two peas in a pod for nearly fifty years. He received his M. D. from St. George's Medical School, completed his residency at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, and earned a fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Freddy was a radiologist for nearly forty years. Practicing medicine with the utmost integrity, humility, and compassion, he selflessly worked to care for his family, friends, and patients. He went above and beyond, always supremely exceeding expectations. In 1994, Freddy moved to Allendale, NJ, where he quickly became a beloved member of the community. One of his greatest joys for many years was being Santa Claus for the Holiday Observers, bringing magic and wonder to the neighborhood children. Freddy is survived by his adored wife of thirty-eight years, Lisa, his beloved children, Amanda and Dr. Ryan Ayers, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Jim Murphy, Jane Chiong, Lori and Paul Purwin, Terri and Kevin Ryan, his sister-in-law Michelle Lander, his nephew Kyle Spiller, twelve cherished nieces and nephews, countless cousins, and his adored grandpuppy, Chili Pepper.
