location-icon

Atlanta, GA

"On Monday, January 15, 2024, at 80 years young, John Sanford Robinson left this world to enjoy the Grace of Our Lord. Born in Moundsville, WV, February 12,1943, John was a son of the late John William Robinson and Helen Josephine Kirkman Robinson. He was preceded in death by his daughter Brenda Abstance and brother Tom Robinson. John leaves behind Sherrie, his wife of thirty-five years, three daughters, Susie Ready and husband Lonnie, Christi Murphy and husband Dennis, Betsy Childers and husband Nolan, his son Billy Ross, sister Patricia Ankrom, brother James Robinson and wife Camilla, cousins Carolyn Ferguson and Ricilyn Aston; grandchildren Nolan, Nikki, Kimberley, Chad, Starla, Isabella, Shane, Sean, and Dennis. He had one great- grandchild, Luka Lanier. A graduate of Moundsville High School, John loved keeping track of and catching up with his classmates. Craigs List and War movies were his relaxation. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Ford Motor Company. John was an unconventional thinking, “Make It Happen!” kind of man. Raising his children, he worked many jobs simultaneously to make certain each one had uniforms, entry fees, prom dresses, and everything an active, loved child deserves. He was proud of his upholstery work, transmission repairs, construction skills, and DEA involvement. John built the home that he and Sherrie have lived in until his death. He was the man to call when anyone needed a hand, a part, or the “how to” for any project. He loved people, heavy equipment, cars, his home, and his family. A funeral Mass for John Robinson will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3773 Chamblee Tucker Rd., Atlanta, GA 30341, at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024. A reception will be held immediately following at the home of Christi and Dennis Murphy III at 672 Old Norcross Tucker Rd., Tucker, GA 30084. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in memory of John Robinson to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home which provides free care for patients with incurable cancer. The address is 760 Pollard Blvd. SW, Atlanta, GA 30315. For online condolences please visit www.haistenmcculloughfuneralhome.com."
