Vincent Joseph DeSalvo, departed this world on Friday, March 1st, 2024. Vincent was born on September 11th, 1952, in Hammond Louisiana to Joseph "Bud" DeSalvo and Mary Mae Catalano DeSalvo. He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University for his undergrad education before earning his law degree from Louisiana State University. He dedicated himself to his career as a lawyer here in Baton Rouge and to raising his family.He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Dorothy Sharon DeSalvo.Vincent is survived by his children, Reed DeSalvo and Brittany DeSalvo and his granddaughter, Hunter-Leigh Fremin.Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, from 12 pm – 2 pm. The service will begin at 2 pm, with burial to follow immediately.

Dr. Gary Dean Black passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born August 29, 1939, in Independence, Iowa to Leonard Black and Evelyn Stohr Black. He graduated high school in Waterloo, Iowa. Gary entered the United States Navy in June of 1959, and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in January of 1963. After the military, he went back to school and received his degree from Palmer Chiropractic College. The dedication to his profession culminated with 50 years of serving the Baton Rouge community at his office, Acadian Chiropractic. Gary’s professionalism, drive, and consistent focus on bringing comfort and healing to his many patients remained his primary objective throughout his career. He was a mentor to countless students and practitioners of chiropractic medicine. He was a devout member of the Baha’i faith and served in Baha’i community in Baton Rouge for many years. Gary was an avid car buff, collecting and restoring antique cars. He thoroughly enjoyed the time spent and the camaraderie with his fellow car enthusiasts. He was a member of several car clubs, including the Nomad Club and the Corvair Club. He is preceded in death by his parents; and beloved ‘Grandma Black’; his devoted wife of 60 years Astrid Roff Black; their daughter Debra Black; and brothers-in-law, Nater Roff and Roger Roff. Gary is survived by his sister Novalene Black Melchert and her husband Norman; his daughter Laurie Black Gaspard and husband Timothy; his grandchildren Christine Gaspard Campbell and husband Kevin, John Dean Gaspard, Daniel Ashraf Gaspard and wife Anisah, Joshua Gaspard and wife Abbey, and Kaeleigh Black-Butler; his great-grandchildren Anisa, Grayson, Olivia and Zoe Campbell and Clementine Gaspard; as well as numerous other loving family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

"On February 10, 2024, Hoyt M. Garrick, Jr. died at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Garrick was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Hoyt M. Garrick and Juanita Sweeney. He attended BHS where he excelled in track and basketball. Following graduation in 1964, Hoyt attended college at LSU. He was an active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. As a student, he expanded his interest in songwriting and musical performance. Hoyt briefly moved to Orange County, California with his young family. Following their return to Louisiana, Hoyt continued to develop his talent for songwriting. Throughout the 1970’s, he formed many long-term relationships with musicians and performers from around the world. He sustained those connections until his death. Hoyt first recorded his material at Studio in the Country, built and developed by Bill Evans. In 1978, Louisiana’s LeRoux, released a song titled “New Orleans Ladies”. The song, written about his wife, quickly advanced on the Billboard Music charts and became a regional hit. Gambit named it the best New Orleans song of the Twentieth Century. Countless artist have performed his work over the last fifty years. He particularly enjoyed working with Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown. They maintained a deeply respectful personal and professional relationship until Gate’s passing. Honoring his musical achievements, Hoyt was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Hoyt was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Juanita Garrick, and a sister, Linda G. Greene. He is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and daughter; Russell Shay and Michelle Susan Garrick of Harrisburg, PA, and Kasey L. Garrick of Carriere, MS. Further, Hoyt is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Becky” Garrick of Bowling Green, KY; three nephews, Shayne Greene, Cade and Tanner Perry; and grandsons, Zaiden, Zayne, and Finley."
