Anthony Pagano, 77, of Pottstown, PA, passed away on September 11, 2023, at Reading Hospital. Born in Santa Lucia del Mela, Italy, on September 26, 1945, Anthony was the son of the late Carmelo and Maria (Arico) Pagano. Anthony "Nino" worked as a beloved pastry chef for the Dickens Inn and The Plough & The Stars restaurant in Society Hill, Philadelphia, for many years, until he retired in 2008. In his spare time, Anthony enjoyed picking fruit, visiting wineries to pick grapes, and being an active member of the TriCounty Active Adult Center in Pottstown. Anthony was one of the kindest and gentlest spirited people with whom anyone could cross paths. He always considered the needs of others before his own because he was always insistent on not being a burden to anyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Anthony was a faithful brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed. Anthony is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Mario (& Tina) Pagano, Antonio Franco Pagano, Peter Pagano, and Ann P. (& John T. ) Oxenford; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his brothers, Santo Pagano and Francesco Pagano. Visitation will take place on September 13, 2023, from 10:00 a. m. - 10:45 a. m. in the Gathering Center of Saint Aloysius Church, 223 Beech St. , Pottstown, PA 19464. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a. m. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Johanna Auritta (Smith) Phillips, 49, of Pottstown, PA, left us all in disbelief and sorrow as she passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2023. She was the loving wife of Tony B. Phillips, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Born in Norristown, PA, on June 21, 1974, Johanna was the biological daughter of the late James T. Smith and Auritta P. (Collins) Smith. Johanna graduated from Pottsgrove High School in 1993 and worked as a jewelry manager for Cash Converters in Pottstown for 11 years. For the last four years, she dedicated her days to serving as a bus monitor at Tri County Trans Net, where she found genuine joy in her work, relishing the time spent with her beloved students day after day. Outside of work, Johanna took great pride in tending to her home, whether it was through preparing delicious meals, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, or handling the laundry. She poured her love and care into every aspect of her household, and even more so, provided for each member of her family with unwavering dedication and love. Johanna's presence touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her, and her profound absence will be deeply felt. Johanna is lovingly remembered by her husband, Tony Phillips; her adoptive parents, Susan and Francis Herman; her son, Eziah Valtez James Phillips; her daughter, Tylaisha Donique Phillips; her stepdaughters, Tanesha Dashaun (& Chris) Jackson and Alissa Monet Phillips; her sister, Ranita (& Darnell Underwood) Smith; her brother, Keith Herman; her grandchildren, Na'eem, Jamir, and Hayden; her sisters-in-law, Annette Lacey, Dionne (& Reuben Marshall) Phillips, and Terry Phillips; her niece and nephew, Promize Underwood and Ky'lif Underwood; and her precious Shih-Poo, Kash. Johanna is also survived by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends, too numerous to list individually, all of whom will cherish the memories they shared with her. Paul A. Steffe, Jr. , affectionately known by many as Rock, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, at the age of 68 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Born on March 14, 1955, in Bakersfield, California, Paul was a man of integrity, strength, and boundless love for his family and friends. Paul's early years were spent in the golden fields of Bakersfield, where he was raised by his loving parents, Paul A. , Sr. and Doral (Pledger) Steffe. The values of hard work and commitment to family were instilled in him from a young age, principles he carried throughout his life. Paul's life was a testament to these values, as seen in the love and care he provided to his own family. He is survived by his cherished children: Jennifer Smilko (Jeff), Bridgett Errich (Peter), Jillian Ketner (Bradley), Erin, Shawn, Brandon, and Brett Steffe. Each of them reflects a part of Paul's spirit, from his tenacity to his generous heart. His legacy will live on through them and his four adored grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter to his life. Paul also leaves behind his sister, Edeana Gans, widow of Gary, who along with his niece, Shannon Gans, and two great-nieces and a great-nephew, will remember him for his strength, humor, and the unwavering support he provided to them. Before his retirement, Paul dedicated many years of service as a truck driver for Boscov's Department Stores. His work ethic and loyalty were evident to all who worked alongside him. He was not only respected for his professionalism but also loved for his camaraderie and good-natured humor. Beyond his professional life, Paul, or Rock as he was often called, had a passion for life that was contagious. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, creating memories that they will cherish forever. His presence at family gatherings was a source of comfort and joy, and his storytelling will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Paul's interests extended to the simple pleasures in life. He found contentment in the laughter of his grandchildren, the company of his children, and the companionship of his close friends and siblings. His ability to appreciate the moment and the people around him made every encounter with him special and meaningful. As we say goodbye to Paul A. Steffe, Jr. , we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. He was a man who knew the value of a hard day's work, the importance of family, and the joy of friendship. Margaret "Margie" Marie (Breyer) Kizina, 51, passed away suddenly on November 25, 2023, at her home in Pottstown, PA. Born in Pottstown, PA, on September 28, 1972, Margie was the daughter of Jacob Breyer and the late Margaret Jean (Stone) Charles. She dedicated her 20-year career as a clerk at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, PA, where she planned to retire by the end of the year. Her deep affection for caring for the veterans there was a true testament to her compassionate nature. While there, she was a president of AFSCME Council 13 Local 1147. Margie loved flower and vegetable gardening, cherished the joys of camping in the great outdoors, and found serenity in her visits to Assateague Island. Despite her fulfilling career and cherished hobbies, her most treasured role was undoubtedly being a devoted "Mommom" to her grandchildren who meant the world to her.
