Anthony Bono Sr Obituary

Anthony Joseph Bono, Sr. , passed away on May 5, 2023 in Gretna, La at age 91. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1931. Beloved husband for 71 years to Lurline Vinot Bono. He was the father of Pamela Deharde (Don), Gina Boudreaux (Gil), and the late Anthony Bono, Jr. ; son of the late Water Bono and Lena Palermo; grandfather of Tina Gravois (Wade), Amy Spragins, Paul Monjure, Jill Bivins (Ryan), Kelleye Miller (Josh), Katie Bono, Ashley Drennan (Dillan), and Maddie Boudreaux; great grandfather of Durham Gravois, Evan Spragins, Grant Drennan, Ryker Miller, Ryley Bivins, James Drennan, and the late Logan Bivins; brother of Marie Sanders, Walter Bono, Kay Caillouette, and the late Lawrence LeBourgeois; and survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Anthony was a Boy Scout leader and a member of local Ironworkers 37. He was an avid fan of raising and training homing pigeons. His favorite pastime was going fishing with family, but especially his son Tony. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 9:30 a. m. until Funeral Mass at 12:00 p. m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. , New Orleans, La 70119. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
