Annie Lou Baskerville Talton 94 of Lancaster PA transitioned on September 1, 2023 to be with the Lord at her home 355 S Ann Street. Annie was born in Baskerville, VA to the late Daniel and Annie Belle (Hayes) Baskerville. Annie and her late husband Junior (Jack) Talton resided in Angier NC before moving their family to Lancaster PA in 1958. After settling in Lancaster in her early years she stayed home to raise her children then took a job with Bird In Hand Poultry, then transitioned into housekeeping at the Holiday INN Hotel that later became known as the Eden Resort Suites where she retired from after over 30 years of service. Annie was a dedicated grandmother that loved to take care of her grandchildren. She was an avid baker, loved to make homemade southern meals, and would feed all that came to her home. Annie really enjoyed going fishing with her husband as well as traveling back down south to visit with family and friends. Annie really enjoyed attended our annual family reunions. Annie was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church her in Lancaster PA Annie, a loving wife and dedicated mother leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ernest (Pop) Talton, his beloved wife Lorraine (5 children), Dorothy Talton (4 children), Lois Morant (her beloved husband Samuel Morant) (4 children), Hazel M. Morant married to Abraham Morant (3 children), Lee Junior Talton (deceased) married to Ruby Talton (3 children), and Judith (Judy) Talton-Baltimore: a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by siblings Daniel Baskerville, Molly Byrant, Mary Epps, Charlie Baskerville, Julia Green, Janeva Boynes, Willie Bell McNeil, and Nanny Sue China. Annie lived a full and blessed life who loved the Lord. She will be greatly missed by those who were blessed by her infectious caring and giving heart. A funeral service will take place September 15, 2023, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 701 N Lime St, Lancaster, PA 17602. Family invites guests to a viewing prior to service beginning at 9am with service to follow at 10am. Annie will be put to rest at Greenwood Cemetery following the conclusion of service. " A precious one from us has gone, a voice we love is still. A place is vacant in our hearts, which never can be filled"

Sally Ann (Beamesderfer) Williams, 80, passed away on Dec. 2, 2023. Born in Reamstown, she was the daughter of the late Elva (Sweigart) and Warren Beamesderfer. Sally was the adoring wife of Melvin Williams. Having worked for more than 40 years in nursing, Sally served as a critical care nurse, as well as other positions at the former St. Joseph Hospital/Lancaster Regional Medical Center. She also was a founding member of the former West End Ambulance Association. Sally was known for her outgoing personality, bringing warmth and friendliness to those around her. Above all, Sally cherished her family. The time spent at family gatherings were filled with love, laughter and making memories playing silly games. She treasured her grandchildren and most recently reveled in the birth of her two great-grandchildren. The zest that Sally had for life was infectious to those who knew her. Her contagious smile and laugh will be missed greatly, however will not be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have met her, even in passing. Her strong compassion for others was filled after her retirement by knitting and donating newborn hats to hospitals and others to the Ann Barshinger Cancer Institute. She and her husband loved visiting Ocean City, N. J. She also enjoyed attending performances at the Fulton Theatre and going to card club with friends. She was an active member of Grace Community Church of Willow Street, where she had served on the Worship Team. Sally is survived by her husband of over 20 years, Melvin; her children: Claudia Williams Esbenshade of Lancaster, Stephanie Hickey (Toby) of Lancaster, Brian Leid (Susan) of Mount Joy and John Williams (Jessica) of Maytown; her grandchildren: Logan Hickey (Ally), Caitlin Clark (Cooper), Drew Esbenshade and Zachary Leid; great-grandchildren: Jackson and Maisie; brothers: Jim (Betsy), Tom (Sue), Craig (Ann), Don, Gary (Jenay) and Mike (Sheri) Beamesderfer and "Lil Sis" Tracy Miller. As the oldest daughter of the Beamesderfer family, Sally was affectionately known as "Sister Superior" by her siblings. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Monday, Dec. 18, at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584. Hark, mournful tidings unfold as we mark the passing of Anna Mae Poplar Stonesifer, aged 93, of Lititz, who breathed her last on the morn of Friday, November 24, 2023, at Lancaster Nursing and Rehab. Born within the bustling confines of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Anna Rutledge and Daniel Foster. Anna Mae, a soul adorned with creativity and dexterity, did find delight in manifold pursuits throughout her earthly sojourn. Her heart found solace in the crafting of artistry and handiwork, weaving her creativity into various projects. A virtuoso of quilting and seamstressing, she wove threads into magnificent raiments. Her culinary prowess earned her acclaim, notably for her Yorkshire Pudding and Spaghetti Sauce. Mirth and laughter accompanied her, and she delighted in celebrations, uniting souls with her infectious zeal. The jubilance of festive seasons, especially Christmas, held a special place in her bosom. Her spirit enkindled hearths during familial revelries, infusing warmth into their embrace. As a second generation Irish immigrant, she embraced and reveled in her heritage. Yet, paramount in her affections was her kin, the very cornerstone of her existence. Her family held sway as the lodestar of her life's compass. Surviving her are children: Joseph G. Poplar (Maryanne) of Connecticut, Jack W. Poplar (Peg) of Lancaster, Cherylann Poplar Werner (Kevin) of Lancaster; eight grandchildren: Joey, Laura, Alex, Elizabeth, Brighid, Erin, Rebecca, Ellie; seven great-grandchildren; her sister Elsie, and a retinue of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by eight siblings. Anna Mae Stonesifer's tenure upon this earth was marked by ingenuity, benevolence, and an abiding love for her kin. Her legacy shall endure through the splendid creations she fashioned and the jubilance she bestowed upon those in her orbit. Evelyn Lorraine Bear (nee Leachey) entered into eternal rest December 2, 2023. She was the loving wife of James (Yogi) Bear, who preceeded her in death, and devoted mother of Rick Bear and his wife Gayle, Sharon Race, and Kenneth and Kevin Bear, both of whom also preceeded her in death. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, her loving sister, Sylvia McLaughlin and her brother Jerry Leachey and his wife Rose. Another brother, Larry Leachey, preceeded her in death. Evy was born in 1936, the daughter of the late Mark and Marion (Shaub) Leachey. She graduated from Lampeter High School in 1954 and was married to Yogi the same year. Throughout her adult life she was employed by Strasburg Bank, Slaymaker Lock Company, Buchwalter Construction and retired from Glenn S. Breidenstine DDS after 20 years of service. Her joys in life were spending time with her children, reading, gardening, creating greeting cards and having regularly scheduled breakfast outings with her best friends. She was a sweet, quiet woman with a quick wit and a feisty streak that could take you by surprise. During one of their last visits, Rick and Gayle were talking about Christmas coming up. Gayle said that Rick needed to think of something he needed for her mom to get him. When he replied that he didn't need anything at all, right on cue, Evelyn got a little devilish grin and she suggested "Well, you DO need a haircut. " And she wasn't wrong. The last two years of her life were spent doing puzzles, drawing and coloring and enjoying the fellowship of other residents at St. Anne's Retirement Community. She was safe and secure there and was able to spend time growing even closer to her sister Sylvia. Henry C. "Clay" Burkholder, Jr. , aged 84, passed away at Hospice and Community Care on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born in Lancaster, PA, to Henry C. Burkholder, Sr. , and Catharine (Falck). Clay was the beloved husband of Barbara (Forrey) Burkholder. Clay was a graduate of F&M University and dedicated his career as a caseworker for the Welfare Department of Pennsylvania, where he made a positive impact on the lives of many. Clay enjoyed a full and vibrant life, marked by various interests: He was a dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, cheering for his team with passion. Clay found joy in visiting Ocean City, MD, where he experienced relaxation and cherished moments. He was an avid golfer, enjoying the greens of the Four Seasons Golf Club in Landisville. Clay is survived by his wife, Barbara (Forrey); his stepchildren: Steven Gainer (Sally) of Ronks and Jennifer Wilhelm (Ralph) Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren: Johnny and David Gainer; Great-granddaughters: Mia and Leela Wilhelm as well as 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son in law, Ralph and his brothers: Nicholas and Peters. Henry C. Born on April 9, 1998, in Lancaster, PA, Aiden Scott Kimmet left this world too soon on November 28, 2023, at the young age of 25. Aiden was the cherished son of Bryan Kimmet and Sheri Kimmet (Buchter). A graduate of Penn Manor High School in 2016, Aiden embarked on a journey that touched the lives of many. He worked at Arconic, where he displayed dedication and hard work. Aiden's high school years were marked by his active involvement in a rodeo club and Future Farmers of America (FFA), showcasing his love for the outdoors and his cowboy spirit. Known for always donning cowboy boots, Aiden embodied the true essence of a country soul. Aiden's love for adventure and the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, hunting, motocross, and bull riding association. His life was a testament to his appreciation for the adrenaline rush that came with these activities. With a heart of gold and a gentle soul, Aiden was a loving and kind individual who treated everyone with respect. He had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor, bringing joy to those around him. Aiden's polite nature, always expressing gratitude with a simple "thank you," endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His contentment with life and his refusal to complain left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. Aiden's respect for veterans was a testament to his gratitude for those who served their country. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and camaraderie. The recent tragedy has left Aiden's light to shine on his grieving parents, Bryan Kimmet of Holtwood and Sheri Kimmet (Buchter) of Pequea, as well as his grandparents M. Douglas and R. Yvonne Enck, and William M. and Donna Buchter, Great aunts and uncles, Dean and Patti Pannebecker, and Ted and Gail Bare. Also, several cousins and step-uncles, Andrew and Timothy Smith, and their families. He will be missed by too many to call by name who he became close friends with over the years. His childhood "brothers" were numerous, including Marshall, Matt and Colin. Bob Hershey, Jr. impacted Aiden's life. Aiden had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel like a friend. Aiden is preceded in death by his grandmother, Valerie Kimmet, whose memory he now joins. Friends, family, and all those touched by Aiden's vibrant spirit are invited to pay their respects at the funeral service, which will be held at Charles F. Snyder III, 2421 Willow Street Pike, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. The viewing will take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the service at noon. Lynn M. Snyder, 74, passed away on November 30, 2023. She was born in Lancaster, PA, the daughter of the late Miriam Jane (Heart) and Thomas M. Groff. She was the beloved wife to Joseph A. Snyder with whom she shared a life filled with love and companionship. Lynn dedicated her professional life to RR Donnelly, where she worked in Payroll before her well-earned retirement. Lynn had a vibrant and active life, enjoying various interests and hobbies. She was a member of the Lancaster County Cruisers Car Club, sharing her passion for automobiles with like-minded enthusiasts. She loved exploring new places, with favorite destinations including Niagara Falls, Florida, the Poconos, the cabin, and the mountains. Lynn was known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, particularly for her chocolate chip walnut cookies that held a special place in the hearts of those who tasted them. Her culinary talents were especially cherished during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Lynn's love for music, with "Amazing Grace" as her favorite song, adds another dimension to her personality and interests. "Amazing Grace" is a timeless and soulful hymn that often holds deep personal meaning for individuals. Lynn enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles and found joy in the simple act of grocery shopping. She was also an avid reader. Lynn M. Snyder's legacy will be remembered through the love she shared, the memories she created, and the warmth she brought to the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Irmgard Neeff

On December 2, 2023, Irmgard Neeff fell asleep in death. Irmgard was 89 years old at the time of her passing. Born in 1934 in Pirmasens, Germany her parents were Richard and Berta Neeff. In 1953 she came to the United States at 19 years of age. Throughout her life she financially supported herself working a variety of jobs. The longest being a 20-year employee of Fenner Manufacturing in Manheim, PA. Irmgard was a long-time active member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was an avid student of the Bible up until her final days of life. Her past hobbies included gardening, cooking, and entertaining her many friends in her home. Irmgard's love of animals included cats and dogs that brought her much love and companionship over the years. She will always be remembered by her friends as one who could recount her many experiences of growing up in Germany during World War II. Irmgard will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.Show more

David Talmas

David Allan "Dave" Talmas, 74, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Jacob and Miriam Talmas. He shared over 51 years of marriage with his wife, Laurie (Cluck) Talmas. Dave was a graduate of Bayside High School. He pursued his undergraduate and graduate work at Penn State. While in college, he was a cab driver in New York City for a summer; he was also a disc jockey at radio stations in State College, PA when he met Laurie. In 1973, Dave and Laurie owned and worked together for more than ten years in downtown State College at The Lazy J and The Pipelighter. Together, they helped make the 70s and 80s a memorable time for fellow Penn Staters. Dave was a natural salesman. He made friends everywhere he went. He earned many awards when he later worked for The Pennsylvania Yellow Pages, Colonial Life & Accident, and American Heritage Life including trips to Monte Carlo, Alaska, Hawaii, Banff, and Mexico. There was even a contest he won twice - the prize was a run through a warehouse to grab as many items as possible in a few minutes. On February 14, 2001, a Grade 3 brain tumor was found - the prognosis was not good. After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, he became a legend of survival until he passed 22 years later. In his last years, he was plagued by long term side effects of his treatment. We are very thankful for the care he received at Hamilton Arms for the last year and a half. He enjoyed reading and watching science fiction like Star Trek, Dr. Who, and Star Wars and in more recent years tuned in to The Big Bang Theory daily. He loved his dear family and especially being a grandpa. Everyone loved his memorable smile and enthusiasm. He brought joy. In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by two daughters, Lia and Casey Talmas; grandson Evan Talmas; brother Bernard Talmas; and sister Rita Simbeck (John). Shirley Burger

Upon God's calling, Shirley R. Burger, 90, peacefully exchanged time for eternity on December 2, 2023, at Oak Leaf Manor South on Hospice Care. Shirley was born in Lancaster, PA, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Bitner) Rieker. Shirley's husband of 57 years, John P. Burger, preceded her in death on January 3, 2011. A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, she left Lancaster to discern a vocation as a Sister of the Holy Cross. After a year at the convent, she discerned that God was calling her to marriage. Upon returning to Lancaster, she worked at Watt and Shand for a time and after her marriage to John she was a substitute teacher at St. Anthony's School for a time and later worked at the Lancaster Newspaper. Most of her working career was spent at Lancaster General Hospital in housekeeping. The work she most enjoyed was being a mother and caring for her family. Shirley was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Church in Lancaster and supported the Women's Club and the Legion of Mary. Spending time and meals with family and praying at home and at church was most important to her. Surviving Shirley are her son Rev. Philip Burger, daughter Teresa, wife of Loyall Mumby son John, husband of Jennifer Vanderhorst; five grandchildren, Yvonne Dehoff (Garth), Jesse Burger (Nicola), Andrew Burger, Rebecca Gehrig (Tommy), Ester Switzer (Luke), eight great-grandchildren, Dagney, Ender, Zane, Zadok, Emett, Lucy, Brayden, and Kaitlyn, and two more on the way. Shirley's sister-in-law Shirley Rieker survives and Shirley was preceded in death by her siblings, Victoria, Mary, Elizabeth, Frank, Josephine, Charles, Florence, Patricia, and George. Shirley's family is most grateful to the team at Lancaster General Hospital (Penn Medicine), Tel Hai Rehabilitation Community, Ascend Hospice and Oak Leaf Manor South for the good care given to her in these several months of her life in this world.
