Colonel Robert Lee Jones, 67, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Feb 17, 2024, at his home. He was born Feb 10, 1957, to Bobby G. and Wilma Enderle Jones. He and Terry Davidson were married in 1987 and they separated in 2010. Robert grew up in Cape Girardeau, graduating from Cape Central in 1976 and from Tarkio College 1987 with a bachelor's in business. He joined the Missouri National Guard at age 18 and at the same time began a career at Do It Best HWI working in the warehouse, retiring in 2017. He advanced in the enlisted ranks of the Missouri National Guard for 12 years before attending OCS and obtaining his commission as a Second Lieutenant on June 28, 1987. Robert retired from the ARNG 2017 as a Colonel having served for 41 years with deployments to Iraq in support of the Global War on Terrorism and to Honduras in support of Beyond the Horizons-Honduras. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lola Elizabeth Jones, Marleigh James Jones and Caitlin Dilley along with nephews Taylor, Bryton, and Brynnleigh Jones. He was preceded in death by his father 1st SG Bobby G. Jones. Visitation will be Friday from 4 - 7 pm and Saturday from 9 am to service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev Donny Ford officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. He and Doris Jean Huber were married January 8, 1959 at Jackson, Missouri. He worked at Wagner Electric in St. Louis, R.B. Potashnick, and Procter \u0026amp; Gamble 26 years as a line operator and service technician. He also farmed. Ivan was a school bus driver for Nell Holcomb District for nine years and a volunteer for East County Fire Protection District. He also loved to mow grass. He was a member of Hobbs Community Church and was active with Promise Keepers. Survivors include his wife Doris Heise; son, Roy Lane (Deana) Heise; two daughters, Debra (Michael) Frank and Lisa Lincoln all of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Tim Frank, Shelley (Zachary) Fischer, Michael (Elisha) Heise, Christopher (David Hopple) Heise, Alisha (Shane) Wallis, and Ashley (Kyle Hente) Schwartz; and nine great-grandchildren. "Henry Azuma, 81, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri died Friday, February 16, 2024 at his home. He was a professor of Sociology and Statistics at Southeast Missouri State University for 32 years after receiving his BA at Kentucky Wesleyan College and his MA and PHD from Louisiana State University. He truly enjoyed teaching and was a faculty advisor for the Beta Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega. He also served on various community advisory boards, was a leader of Boy Scouts of America Troop 2, and a youth soccer coach for many years. Henry enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, exploring the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his greatest joy. Loving survivors include wife of 51 years, Kay Azuma; son, Jason Akira (Anne Light) Azuma; daughter, Gina Marie Azuma (Kevin) Cox; two brothers, Steven Akira (Elaine) Azuma, Paul Morihiko Azuma; sister, Joyce Haru Azuma (Mark) Hanson; two grandchildren, Olivia Mariko Azuma and Samuel Morihiko Cox. He was preceded in death by his father, Mike Morihiko Azuma and his mother, Annie Misako Azuma. Alfred "Richard" Eifert, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away February 17, 2024, at Chateau Girardeau. He was born May 1, 1929, in Illmo, Missouri, son of Alfred "Turk" and Bernice Tisdale Eifert. He and Pauline Penrod were married on November 26, 1989. She passed away on October 2, 2011. Richard was a graduate of Illmo High School. He entered the US Navy December 3, 1947, and served as a Navy Corpsman on board the USS Roosevelt and the USS Shangri-La. Richard was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 5, 1967, at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then went to work for the US Post Office in Cape Girardeau. Richard was a member of the Cape VFW, Cape American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and dancing. Loving survivors include, his children, LaWanna (Tom) Heise, Cindy (Joel) Neely, Mark (Diane) Eifert, Katrina (Wayne) Calhoun; stepchildren, Laurie (Allen) Young, Cathy (Charlie) Mason, and Danny Ferguson; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, wife Pauline, son Richard Rene Eifert, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. A private service will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield Missouri. Arrangements by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
