WELLSVILLE - AnnaVaun "Annie" Culp, 83, of Wellsville, passed away at her home on Friday, September 8, 2023, following a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 5, 1939, in Bellaire, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ralph and Catherine (Croxton) Dowling. In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her grandson, Steven Culp, two great-granddaughters: Emma and Maiya Lewis; and one great-grandson, RJ Culp. Also preceding her in death were five brothers and one sister. Annie was employed for thirty years as a LPN for Potters Medical Center, the Osteopathic Hospital in East Liverpool, and DCI. She was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary VFW Post 5647 in Wellsville. Annie was a very faithful Christian woman and was active in the Women's Ministry at the Salvation Army in East Liverpool. She attended the Living Well Church. Survivors include her husband, William J. "Bill" Culp, whom she married August 18, 1961; three children: Shari Pugliano of Wellsville, William (Tyna) Patterson of Hopedale, OH, and Thomas (Teresa) Culp of Union Port, OH; and one brother, Joseph Dowling of East Liverpool. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Kelly (Josh) Haddox, Robbie (Trisha) Lewis, Kevin (Heather) Patterson, Tracy (Brian) Sullivan, and Alicia Culp; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Dirk Hall of the Living Well Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main Street in Wellsville. Betty Jean (Chamberlain) Conrad, 89, passed to her eternal home where she was greeted by the love of her life, her husband, William Conrad, Sr. , who preceded her in death in 1980. She was born May 10, 1934, the daughter of Paul and Velma Chamberlain, who also preceded her in death. A long-time Wellsville resident, she was survived by two sons, William, Jr. (Tina) Conrad and Rick (Vickie) Conrad; grandchildren, Brittney (Stephen) Varkony, Nicci (Tim) West, B. J. (Cristy) Conrad, Sam Conrad, John Conrad, Mikala (David Taylor) Conrad and Zack Conrad; 17 great grandchildren and a special niece, who was like her daughter, Alma (Larry) Claypool and her brother, Robert (Jean) Chamberlain. Betty was a faithful member of the West Point Nazarene Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher, treasurer and helped greatly putting on many community dinners from the church. Her church family was her second family that she loved and supported her whole life. She also worked for more than 45 years as a cook for the Beaver Local School District. After retiring, she went back to the district and volunteered as a cook. She was definitely known for making the absolute best no-bake cookies and peanut butter squares ever! Betty also worked many years at the local voting polls during elections. Roberts Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. CHESTER - Carl Roger Hudson, 85, of Chester, WV, formerly of Hammondsville, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at Weirton Medical Center. He was born September 25, 1938, in Irondale, the son of the late Hurshel and Blanche (Landis) Hudson. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his infant son, Dennis Roger Hudson; one infant great-grandson, Connor Hellyer; and three brothers: Floyd, Frank, and Norman Hudson. Carl graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1957, and he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was previously employed as an operator for Quaker State Refinery. Carl was an avid woodworker and voracious reader. However, the place the felt most at home was in the woods, especially during the fall months. Carl was a fisherman and a coon hunter extraordinaire. He had many beloved hunting dogs over the years, but none were as fine as Ring, Babe, and Boone. Survivors include his wife, Anita (Cashdollar) Hudson, whom he married in 1987; his five children: Wes (Suzanne) Hudson of Paris, PA, Amanda (Todd) Krupinski of Wintersville, Aaron (Sabrina) Hudson of Pittsburgh, Carla (Jim) Robison of Rayland, OH, and Travis (Amy) Hudson of Brandon, MS; and two brothers: Daniel Hudson of Pickens, SC and Charles Hudson of Florida. Ryan Patrick Partee, Sr. , a beloved son, brother, father and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at his home in Wellsville, Ohio. Born on February 4, 1985, in Stoughton, Massachusetts, Ryan's vibrant spirit and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ryan was a dedicated and hardworking individual who found fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. He was currently employed as a delivery driver at Pizza Hut, where his friendly demeanor and reliable service left a lasting impression on both colleagues and customers alike. Beyond his professional pursuits, Ryan was a true embodiment of compassion and generosity. He possessed an innate ability to extend a helping hand to those in need, embodying a caring and empathetic nature that endeared him to many. An adventurer at heart, Ryan found solace and joy in the great outdoors. Whether he was engaged in construction projects, snowboarding down slopes, mastering tricks on his skateboard, or exploring nature through hiking, his enthusiasm for life knew no bounds. His love for outdoor activities was only surpassed by the radiant smile he wore when spending cherished moments with his children. The bond he shared with them was immeasurable, and his role as a father brought him unparalleled happiness. Ryan's affinity for the Ohio River was a testament to his free spirit. His leaps into its waters symbolized his fearless approach to life, mirroring his willingness to embrace new experiences without hesitation. Growing up, Ryan shared an unbreakable bond with his brothers, Adam Gerard Partee and David Michael Partee. Their friendship was a source of strength and support throughout his life's journey. Despite life's challenges, Ryan's resilient spirit shone through. He was preceded in death by his beloved two-month-old daughter in 2007, a heartache that only deepened his compassion for others. He was also preceeded in death by his grandparents, Elizabeth and William Callahan, Gerard and Marie Partee and Gerard Maloney. He will be remembered with love by his loving parents, Jean Desmond Pike and Richard Edward Pike of New Cumberland, WV; his girlfriend, Shannon McCarthy of Wellsville, OH; his sons, Ryan Patrick Partee, Jr. of New Cumberland, WV, and Sean Richard Partee of Wellsville, OH; his brothers, Adam Gerard Partee (Jo Anne) of North Attleborough, Massachusetts, and David Michael Partee of New Cumberland, WV; his sister, Dakota Pike of Rockland, Massachusetts; his grandmother, Beverley Maloney of Abington, Massachusetts; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. In celebrating Ryan's life, let us remember his indomitable spirit, his zest for adventure, and his unwavering devotion to those he loved. Sue Ellen Lysle (82) of Hammondsville Ohio, passed away under hospice care at East Liverpool City Hospital on June 29, 2023. Born February 15, 1941 to Doris M. McGivern and Edward Patrick McGivern, Sue lived the majority of her life in the Hammondsville and Irondale area. She graduated from Irondale High School in 1959, earned her associates degree as an LPNat Jefferson Technical College and continued her education at Kent State University in East Liverpool to become an RN. She worked as an LPN at Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio and then as an RN at Potters Medical Center in East Liverpool and retired from East Liverpool City Hospital in 1998. Sue was a baptized member of the Jehovah's Witnesses and attended the East Liverpool Kingdom Hall. Sue was married to Robert F. "Pat" Lysle for 53 years, who preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: Dennis McGivern and Dean McGivern. She is survived by her children: Carla (Daniel)Filbert of Irondale, Ohio, Bret Lysle of Salem, Ohio, and Chad (Natalie) Lysle of Irondale, Ohio; grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Dylon Filbert, Jason Baker, and Nadia Lysle; and two brothers: Michael McGivern of Sharon, PA and Patrick McGivern of Las Vegas, NV. Highlandtown - Joleen Priscilla Ackerle Cattrell, 96, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on June 21, 2023, at the Hospice House in Poland. She was born in East Liverpool on August 22, 1926 to Wayne Louis Ackerle and Helen Jane Calhoun Ackerle. Graduating in 1944 from Wellsville, Joleen began working in high school at Sterling China and soon advanced to head decorator. She worked until her first daughter was born in 1957 and became a full-time mother and wife. Joleen married the love of her life, William "Bill" Cattrell in 1953. They built two homes from the ground up and also built the Chief Supreme Cream, the ice cream stand located on Clark and Aten Avenues in Wellsville, and operated the business for a few years before selling. Joleen was a life-time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Wellsville where she developed a strong faith and became a devoted follower of Christ. Within the church, Joleen taught Sunday School for many years, directed Bible School, was a member of the Middlers' Class, and could always be found in the kitchen at church functions. She helped with many church activities throughout the years including church auctions, spaghetti and Lenten dinners, hot dog and coat giveaways, and she was a Covenant Cookie Baker for the annual cookie sale. Joleen always put others before herself taking care of multitudes of people throughout her life. She was known for providing meals and buying food for many friends and shut-ins, visiting rest homes, and providing large print Bibles for the vision-impaired. Joleen also loved animals. Every morning, rain, snow, or shine, she could be found feeding the birds and other wildlife including turkeys, raccoons, opossums, and deer. She and Bill loved to dance and travel and visited many countries in their 53 years of marriage. One of her favorite things to do raising her children and grandchildren was spending weekends boating, swimming, and water skiing (even on her 75th birthday) on the beautiful Ohio River. Her children and grandchildren will cherish and share her memories. She was a loving mother to her children: Robin (John) Weeda and Jody (Rick) Lockhart of Highlandtown; and a wonderful "Nan" to her grandchildren: Emilee (Ed) Wilson and Alyssa Lockhart of Wellsville, Christopher (Renee) Weeda of Lisbon, and Zachary Lockhart of Pittsburgh. Joleen was especially thrilled to be an active part in the lives of her two great-grandchildren, Eddie and Emersyn Joleen Wilson. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bill (2006), and half-brother, William Carr. The family will receive visitors Sunday, June 25 from 12:00-4:00 p. m. at Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St. in Wellsville. A celebration of Joleen's life will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home on Monday, June 26 at 11:00 a. m. with Pastor Rick Stanley of the church officiating. POLAND - Dale William Oliver, 92, of Poland, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 at the Hospice of the Valley Hospice House surrounded by his loved ones. Dale was born to Ray and Alice (DePuy) Oliver on November 2, 1930 in Dart, Ohio. He married Betty Best on June 26, 1954 and they celebrated 68 years of marriage on their last anniversary. Dale served in the US Army from 1951-1953 and shortly after his discharge, moved from Marietta, Ohio to Youngstown, Ohio to work for Republic Steel Corporation. Dale was employed there in a variety of positions until 1984 when he retired. Following his retirement from the steel mill, he worked as a bus driver for 10 years for the Springfield Local School District. Dale and Betty were longtime vendors at Shaker Woods and Christmas in the Woods Festivals where they displayed and sold their wooden crafts and art. Dale was a devoted member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima, Ohio where he served for many years in a number of leadership positions. Community service was a central part of Dale's life. Throughout the years he volunteered his time to a number of local organizations which include Junior Achievement, Boardman Businessmen Bowling League, Springfield Ruritan Club, Springfield Band Boosters, Little League and most recently South Range Council of Church and Community, where he has played a major role in their Food Bank program, distributing food to those in need. His passion for helping others was evident with the service and effort he devoted to this critically needed organization in our community. Dale was a devoted family man and spent countless hours socializing and helping his family members. He is survived by his wife Betty (Best) Oliver of 68 years, his three children Kevin (Wendy) Oliver of Winston Salem, NC, Julie Johnson of Youngstown, Ohio and Joyce (Dr. Ronald) Rogers of Petersburg, Ohio, and his two siblings Thelma Oliver of Devola, Ohio and Harold (Shirley) Oliver of North Jackson, Ohio. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Kevin (Holly) Oliver, Jr. of Tobaccoville, North Carolina, Kyle (Amy) Oliver of St. Louis, Missouri, Jennifer (Christoph) Martin of Columbiana, Ohio, Bobby (Ashley) Rogers of Boardman, Ohio, Dr. Kallie (Austin) Fischer of St. Charles, Missouri, Ronald, Jr. (Julianna) Rogers of New Springfield, Ohio, Brad (Katie) Johnson of Youngstown, Ohio and Chris (Elle) Johnson of Escondido, California and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to spending time with his family and volunteering in the community, Dale loved working in his garden, deer hunting in southern Ohio, wood working in his shop, and rooting for the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed gathering with family and friends and was always up for a spirited game of pinochle or euchre. Dale will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community. He will always be remembered for his hardworking, unassuming, dependable, and humble approach to life. Dale was always willing to lend a hand to those in need without any need for credit or accolades. Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, February 19 from 2-4pm at Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima, Ohio. A service will follow at 4pm.
