Laspino Sr. , of Thorpe Avenue, Meriden passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Hartford Hospital. She was a resident of West Haven for 47 years before moving to Cedar Ridge in Meriden 20 years ago to be closer to her family. Ann was born in New Haven, March 16, 1925, a daughter of the late Nunzio and Philomena (Aitro) Ardito. She worked alongside her husband at Laspino's Diner in Orange as a waitress and then later for the Elm Diner for over 40 years. She loved socializing with her regular customers - a true people person. Ann and Jim enjoyed traveling on many cruises to the Caribbean Islands and Bermuda, also managing to sneak away for a weekend in Newport or to dance at Roseland Ballroom in New York. In her later years, she enjoyed crocheting, gardening, doing word searches, watching her beloved Turner Classic Movies, and socializing with all her Cedar Ridge friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Vicky Marie Vensel and her husband, Carl of Meriden; her daughter-in-law, Maryann Laspino of Prospect; her sister, Delores Berube of Meriden; her four grandchildren, whom always made her so proud, Matthew Laspino and his wife, Daniela, Michelle Laspino, Michael and Christian Vensel; her great granddaughters, Liliana and Serena Laspino; a very special nephew, Greg Perrotti and his wife, Susan Presutti of Granby; and several nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her son, James P. Laspino, Jr. ; her granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Vensel; her sisters, Concetta Turro and Louise Perrotti; and her brothers, Gaetano, Charles, Ernest, Anthony, Peter and John Ardito. The family would like to thank the staff at Connecticut Baptist Homes for providing her with such loving care.
