Ann Bederka, aged 102, just shy of her 103rd birthday, passed away on September 8, 2023, on a day filled with special significance, coinciding with her mother's and the Blessed Mother's birthdays. Ann was born to Anthony and Mary Triano, joining her sisters Julie D'Andrea, Isabella Triano, Rose Melillo, and Katie Triano in the Triano family. She was also the beloved wife of the late Frank Bederka. Ann is survived by her cherished nieces and nephews: Gerard and Jeri-Ann Melillo, Billy and Dotti D'Andrea, Sharon Grello, Jerri Henig, and Maria Salon. She was a beloved great aunt to Melissa Melillo-Smith. Ann's warm presence extended to many other family members, friends, and neighbors. Ann led an impressive life, working as a data analyst at Western Electric during World War II, where she also served as a code girl decoding enemy messages. She later worked at AT&T but left her career to care for her ailing family members. Despite her busy schedule, she generously volunteered at Saint James' hospital. In her free time, Ann pursued her passion for figure skating, becoming a semi-professional skater with offers to turn professional. It was on the skating rink where she met her husband, Frank Bederka, a renowned organist among skaters and musicians. Upon retirement, Ann dedicated herself to volunteer work, including bingo events, church activities, and founding non-profits like Toys for Tots. She generously contributed to her church and was a devout Catholic throughout her life. Ann was a remarkable woman who achieved much before the age of 70. Her wit, humor, and zest for life endeared her to many. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service that will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 3pm to 7pm at Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd. , Toms River. Cantor Neil Ben-Isvy passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his home in Jackson, New Jersey. He was 94 years old. Born and bred in Brooklyn, New York, he raised his family in Marlboro, New Jersey, and eventually settled in Jackson with his loving wife, Joy, during his retirement years. A teacher and musician by nature, Cantor Neil Ben-Isvy's professional life consisted of both teaching high school in the New York City public school system, from which he retired in the early 1980's, and serving as Marlboro Jewish Center's cantor from its inception in 1971 until his retirement in 2004. During his distinguished career as a spiritual leader, Cantor Neil Ben-Isvy trained more than 2,500 students for their B'nai Mitzvot and officiated the life events of countless members of the Marlboro Jewish Center community. Cantor Neil Ben-Isvy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joy; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Ben-Isvy and James Freiman; his son, Jonathan; and his four grandchildren, Daniel, Noah and Zach Ben-Isvy, and Ella Freiman. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Marlboro Jewish Center, 103 School Road West, Marlboro, NJ 07746 in the Hazzan Neil Ben-Isvy Sanctuary. Patricia Ann Zarro (83) passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 05, 2023. Born in Newark, NJ, she lived in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Berkeley Twp. Patricia was a Broker & Real Estate Agent and worked for a few known agencies in Essex County. She loved to volunteer and was a member of many organizations, The Soup Kitchen in Montclair, Willing Hearts, Heidi Weiss Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Deborah Heart & Lung Hospital and The Jewish Advocate for the Elderly. Patricia is survived by her son John Zarro and his wife Maria of Belleville, NJ, a brother Norman Weed and his wife Elizabeth. A Stepdaughter Doreen, and longtime Companion Frederick Cucolo and two beloved cousins, Karen Holden and Kimberly Giambrone. She was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren Nicole, Gina and Joey. She was predeceased by her son Edward J. Zarro, Jr who died on June 13, 2023. Patricia will be remembered for her creativity, wisdom, love and generosity by family and friends. She will be dearly missed. Ronald K. Ely Sr. , of Jackson, NJ, passed away on December 3, 2023, peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Long Branch to Kenneth and Kathryn Ely, Ron grew up in Adelphia, graduating from Freehold High School in 1951. As a young man, he played football and baseball throughout high school; Ron's proudest athletic accomplishment was getting three hits off famed New York Yankee Whitey Ford in a game at Fort Monmouth. Ron served the country as a member of the United States Naval Construction Battalions, a unit of the Navy better known as Seabees, and he was a proud veteran of the Korean War. The Seabees motto - "Can Do!" - is an attitude Ron adopted throughout his life. For 38 years, Ron worked for Jersey Central Power and Light. He was a coach for both West Neptune Minor League Baseball and Neptune Pop Warner Football. Ron also served as a member on the Neptune Township Board of Education and on the Neptune Township Committee. As an esteemed career highlight, Ron held the title of Deputy Mayor for Neptune Township. For the majority of his life, Ron served as a volunteer fireman. Ron volunteered at Shark River Hills Fire Department, ultimately becoming Chief. He also served at Hamilton First Aid and the Hamilton Fire Department. Even after retirement, Ron remained an active member of his communities both in New Jersey and in his second home in Bonita Springs, Florida. He was a member of the Board of Directors at the Bonita Beach and Tennis Club for many years. Ron lived and raised his family in Shark River Hills for forty years, and well into his 80s could be found hunting, playing tennis or pickleball, body surfing, and fixing everything and anything around the house. Above all else, Ron's greatest achievement is his family. Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Dorothy Ely; his three children, Ronald K. Ely Jr. (Kandy) of Boise, ID, Cyndy Gohl O'Loughlin (Brian) of Jackson, NJ and Johns Island, SC, and Dianne Steimel (Jack) of Wall, NJ; his seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, December 6,2023 from 3:00 to 6:30 PM with his funeral service to follow. Arline P. Daley, nee Johnston, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Arline was born in the Inwood section of New York City and resided there until moving to Ocean Beach, NJ in the early 70's. Arline was loved by all who knew her. Known for her dazzling blue eyes and her infectious laugh, she always had a smile for everyone. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and for the last few years loved being in Florida for the winter. She enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren playing sports. . . . Tyler at soccer and Declan and Chase in baseball. Arline loved to watch the NY Yankees but even more so, loved to watch tennis. She had her favorite players and would watch them religiously. Arline was an active member of St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish and the Deborah Heart Foundation where she volunteered with fund raising efforts. Lastly, she loved her Ocean Beach II community where she was very active and willing to help wherever she could. She was the "lady who drew the birdie on your hand at the ice cream socials"; volunteered to check in attendees at the Annual Memorial Day Picnics; pancake breakfasts; membership meetings, etc. for many, many years. Arline was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Johnston and Jessie, nee Fisher and her loving husband, Patrick Daley. Arline is survived by her children; son, Michael Davis and his wife, Catherine; and her daughter Barbara (McGivney) and her husband, Thomas Reilly. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ and resided in Edison, NJ, prior to settling in Jackson Twp. 38 years ago. Robert was a proud United States Veteran serving in the Navy. He was employed for 32 years as an Auto Assembler for the General Motors plant in Linden, NJ, prior to his retirement in 2005. Robert enjoyed fishing, watching football, sitting by a bonfire and nature in general, listening to bagpipes on occasion and telling great stories about his service in the U. S. Navy overseas. He was a loving husband, father and friend. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Robert R. Sr. and Constance P. Homann. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lisa A. "George C. Cressman, age 95, husband of the late Adelheid S. (Kachele) Cressman, of Jackson, NJ, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at his residence. Born on March 1, 1928 in Easton, PA, he was a son of Eva (Schumptner) Keim. Mr. Cressman enlisted in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He honorably served two combat tours in Korea and a tour in Vietnam. After 24 years of service, he retired in 1970 as a Sergeant First Class. Following his retirement from the military, he performed a variety of jobs including truck driving, meat cutting, and time at the railroad. He was a devoted husband and father, and he cherished the time spent with family, especially having the honor of caring for his wife until her passing. Mr. Cressman is survived by two children, Anita B. , wife of the late Michael Grecksch and George C. Jr. , husband of Terri Cressman; seven grandchildren, Melissa Grecksch, Stephanie, wife of Josh Fischer, Michael Grecksch, Brian, husband of Jackie Grecksch, Katelyn Cressman, Matthew Cressman, and Matt Cressman; one sister, Betty Kehler; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Alexander E. Cressman; and three siblings, Paul Baylor, Annamae Long, and Shirley Kehler. Born in Tallahassee, FL to parents, George and Louise Bulger, she resided in Jackson for 53 years and graced everyone she met with her infectious smile and fun-loving personality. She enjoyed the many years she worked at Paul Kimball Hospital but spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mother raising her four children. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed gardening, watching Jeopardy and home improvement shows on HGTV, and listening to her favorite music. She taught herself carpentry and did many renovations throughout the years on her own and her children's homes. She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Michael J. Giblin. Together with her beloved "Mikey", they built a beautiful life and family together.
