Rebecca “Becky” Sue Cotterman age 69 of Somerset, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 3, 1954. Becky was a self-professed hippie. She loved her family and friends with fervor. She was a Wife, Mother, Sister, Friend and “Memaw” extraordinaire. She adored the Moon and the Stars. She embodied peace and love and spread both to every person she met. She was very kind and nurturing. She was also silly and slightly mischievous, strong but full of whimsy. She was unapologetically and loudly herself in a world that prefers quiet conformity. She loved music, particularly Todd Rundgren and numerous 70’s bands. Her love of birds and nature was undeniable and the joy that she received from them fed her soul. Her laugh will continue to echo and her smile will always shine down on us, radiant and full of joy, begging us to have fun with the time we’re gifted on this Earth. Let her memory guide us all to be kinder, laugh more, love without fear and be our most authentic self. Her legacy lives on through the moons and stars, beehives, gardens, fairies, crystals, rainbows and the many lessons she taught us along the way. Becky passed away peacefully, in the forever home that Devon and she built, in Somerset Ohio. Becky is survived by her devoted husband of 24 years, Devon, Shelly, Alex, Amara and Sebastian Perez, Mike, Susan, Zander and Penelope Cotterman, her neighborhood furry friend “Glory”, her sisters Denise and Sally, her daughter Patricia (PJ) Rogers and many extended family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. A celebration of Life will happen at a later date in the spring. Arrangements are being handled by the Bope-Thomas Funeral home, Somerset, Ohio. Donald Flautt

Apr 12, 1942 - Dec 01, 2023

location-icon

Somerset, OH

Donald Eugene Flautt, 81 of Somerset, OH passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, peacefully in his sleep. He was born on April 12, 1942, in Somerset, OH, the son of the late Francis S. and Rose (Cost) Flautt. Don graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1960 where he enjoyed playing varsity basketball as well as being active in 4-H and his church. Don found work at several local factories, got married, and had two children--Michelle and Matthew. He made the difficult decision to leave his hometown, family, farm, and friends to move his young and growing family to Northeast Ohio, starting a professional career from scratch. He began his career in the electronics distribution industry. Don was a pioneer in a relatively new field at that time. He was a top producer throughout his profession in a highly competitive field, receiving many awards and accolades. It was in Northeast Ohio where he purchased his first home in Stow, Ohio to provide a nurturing environment for his family. After continued career success he moved the family to Hudson, OH, although he made significant personal sacrifices to do so. Don's children were always the focus of his life, and it was important to him they receive a quality education in a safe and positive environment. Don served in the Ohio National Guard for nearly 20 years, achieving rank of Artillery Captain upon his retirement from service. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with the military. After his children became adults, Don moved to Pickerington, OH to be closer to his daughter and her family. He started his own successful electronics distribution company and eventually retired to the family farm in Somerset 20 years ago. Don provided unconditional love and support for all those near and dear to him, especially his children and dogs. Don was passionate about his hobbies and unquestionably loved everything with a motor. It didn't matter what type of motor however, it had to be fast. He obtained his private pilot's license in 2000 and even owned his own plane at one point. Don transitioned to building and flying radio-controlled gasoline and electric powered airplanes and cars. Always a giving person, Don volunteered long service as club president of his local flying club. He remained active in his flying hobby until his passing. Don spent countless hours tinkering with planes, helping new people into his hobby, and telling countless stories. He won several competitions for radio-controlled aircraft design at various events in the tri-state area. Don absolutely loved Somerset, the community, and especially his church, Holy Trinity. He was seen daily in town at many of his favorite restaurants and was well respected. He is preceded in death by James Flautt (brother), his parents Frank and Rose, Loretta Flautt (aunt), and Albert "Boss" Flautt (uncle). Surviving family includes daughter Michelle (Flautt) Brack, son Matthew Flautt, his grandchildren Lindsey Lewis, Jacob Lewis, as well as his former wife and mother of his children Nancy McDonnell (formerly of Newark, OH). A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Somerset, OH on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a. m. A celebration of life will be held after the service and burial, at the Somerset American Legion at approximately 1:00 p. m. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to a charity of their choice. Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset is entrusted with the arrangements.
