Angie Linder, age 56, of Rutherfordton, went home to with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 25, 2023 at her residence. Angie was born Tuesday, December 20, 1966 in Pensacola, Florida to the late Frank and Sara Morrow Pleasant. She was a graduate of Isothermal Community College and worked as a beautician for over twenty years. Angie enjoyed all kinds of needlework including sewing and crocheting. She was a member of Landrum Independent Baptist Church. Angie’s life passion was her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She had the most loving, forgiving and merciful heart toward others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Ponton; sister, Wanda Garcia and son-in-law, Randy Ponton. Left to cherish fond memories are her loving husband of thirty-eight years, Kenneth Linder; daughter, Misty Godfrey (Jason) of Forest City; son, Kenneth Linder, Jr. of Rutherfordton; sister, Frankie Gettys (Jerry) of Caroleen; grandchildren, Elijah Fowler, Phoebe Godfrey, Gavin Godfrey, Molly Godfrey, Canaan Ponton and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 30th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Shane Jackson and Mr. Kenneth Linder officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family asks that anyone ordering flowers to please send live plants instead of cut flowers. With both joy and fond remembrance, we honor the life of Carol Jean Lytle, who gracefully departed this world on December 6th, 2023, at the age of 79. Carol, the beloved daughter of the late Lester and Leona Townsend Anderson, radiated warmth and love throughout her remarkable journey. In the embrace of a love that spanned over 61 years, Carol was the devoted wife of Rev. Kenneth Lytle. Together, they crafted a beautiful family, blessed with two children, Donna Purvis (William) and Deborah Brown (Harold). Carol leaves behind a legacy that extends through 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and wisdom she shared. Other survivors include sister Sue Hollis. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christina Brown. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Carol's life on Saturday, December 9th, from 12:30-1:45 PM with a visitation at New Covenant COG in Ellenboro, NC. In the tender embrace of eternal peace, Austin Painter transitioned from this life at the age of 31 on Sunday December 3, 2023, while at his home in Columbus, NC. Austin was the devoted father of Avalynn Marie Painter, Averlee Lucy Kay Painter, and Wrenlee Amelia Painter. Austin found solace in the artistry of carpentry and the serenity of outdoor pursuits, particularly hunting and fishing. Beyond his professional and recreational pursuits, Austin's deepest joy emanated from his role as a loving father to his three precious daughters. Hailey Moore is the loving mother of Avalynn and Averlee. Reflecting on Austin's life, we fondly recall a soul cherished by his mother, Lisa Metcalf Jenkins, and dad, Bryan Keith Jenkins. His brothers, Kameron Chase Painter, Bryson Keith Jenkins, and Joseph Blake Painter, along with his sisters, Kaylin Lucy Brooke Jenkins and Mackenzie Elizabeth Painter, weave their memories into the tapestry of his legacy. Austin's journey is further embraced by his father, Barry Kenneth Painter, stepmother, Emily Ann Painter, and grandparents Larry Jenkins, Coy Painter, and Ronald and Trudy Pecoul. As we honor Austin's memory, we tenderly remember his grandparents Sanford and Lucy Metcalf, Peggy Painter, and Becky Jenkins, whose footsteps he now follows. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Marvin Wilson, who peacefully departed this life on November 22, 2023. Marvin's last moments were at Hospice in Forest City, NC, surrounded by loved ones. He was 72 years old, and a devoted husband to Marie Jackson Wilson. He was born on June 5, 1951, in Bronx, NY to Fred and Dollie Copeland Wilson-Thomas and spent his early years in New Haven, CT. As the eldest brother, Marvin is survived by his brothers Fred Wilson, Reginald Wilson, Charles Wilson, and sister Joycelyn Via. His legacy extends through his children Utasha Wilson, Kenyatta Wilson, Zualryna Wilson, and Kiisha Mercey born to his first wife, the beloved Patricia Torrance Wilson. Marvin was a graduate of Hill House High School, where he excelled in football under the guidance of Legendary Coach Dan Casey. In 1968, following graduation, he bravely served two tours in Vietnam; he was stationed at Camp Lejeune. Marvin, unfortunately, faced health challenges as he was exposed to the poor water quality at Camp Lejeune; and to Agent Orange during his service. These factors ultimately contributed to his illness and untimely passing. He suffered from Multiple Myeloma. Despite the adversities, Marvin's commitment to duty and country earned him an honorable discharge from the US Marine Corps. His passion for supporting fellow veterans was evident through his active involvement with the Rutherford County Veterans Affairs. In addition to his immediate family, Marvin leaves behind a lasting legacy through his 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of relatives and friends who will fondly remember him for his strength, resilience, and dedication to service. Marvin Wilson will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Allen Lee Hughes, aged 72, entered this world in Phelps County, Missouri, born to the late Julius and Beatrice Hodges Hughes. He peacefully passed away on November 25th at his home. Allen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debra Wilfong Hughes. Left to cherish his memory are his survivors: Roxane Hughes (Doug), Christina Hughes, Caitlin Wallace (Josh), and Emily Hughes (Nicolas). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, as well as his siblings Bill Hughes and Brenda Hughes. Allen found solace in the tranquility of nature and had a deep love for fishing. Among his most cherished memories were the moments spent with his brother Bill while section hiking the Mountains to Sea Trail. Allen's professional journey began with his service in the United States Army. Subsequently, he earned his master's degree in clinical social work, dedicating the remainder of his career to making a positive impact to society as a licensed clinical social worker.
