Loving fraternal Brother of Erin (Paul) Stachura. Grandson of the late Herbert E and Angela (nee Mazurowski) Maher and Merlin B (Joe) Jr. and Blanche R (nee Kruckow) Gearon. Treasured Nephew of Michael Gearon and the late Judith Gearon, Suzan (Robert) Styczenski and Richard Gearon; Cathie (Paul) Abrahamson, Janet (Ken) Kessler. Charlotte (Kevin) O'Connell, Mary (and the late John) Schmidt, Dorothy (Joseph) McCloskey, Joanne (Bill) Gaines, John (Beth) Maher, Patty (Dan) Ray, Charles (Cathy) Maher, Peter (Sue) Maher, Martin Maher and Rose Maher, and Laurie (Mike) Flores. Patrick held a passion for life, with a gift for communicating and keeping people together. He deftly handled life's challenges with humor and dignity. An avid genealogist, who maintained his family tree of over 900 members of his extended families around the world, so our apologies for those who are not listed here. A lifelong student of history, he was especially devoted to Irish History and the centuries of history told in Irish music. He supported many Irish Organizations, Musicians and establishments, in their efforts for justice and to keep Irish Heritage and Culture alive. Tiocfaidh ar la. Continuing the family legacy of service and supporting veterans and their organizations, he was a proud member of the Son's of the American Legion Marrs-Meyer Post #991 in Worth IL and cherished the years he rode with his Father in parades with the 40\u0026amp;8 Voiture 220 Cook County IL locomotive trains. He volunteered at Viet Nam memorials and events. A perpetually optimistic fan of all Chicago Sport Teams, he also treasured a good game of chess, whether online or in person. Playing in scholastic, and individual chess tournaments and clubs throughout the area. He also enjoyed faceting gemstones. A visitation celebrating Patrick's life will be on Friday, Nov. 17,. 2023 from 4PM to 8 PM at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W Archer Ave. Summit IL. Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 AM until time of Service at 11 AM. We will go in procession from the funeral home to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where Patrick will be laid to rest.
