Age - 62
December 9, 2023
David Alan Unterberg was born to doting parents, the late Lester I. Unterberg and Jean (Schelberger) Unterberg, on December 22, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on December 5, 2023. David was always charismatic; a rare blend of intellect and quick wit, with an insatiable zest for life. This was exemplified though his myriad of interests and hobbies ranging from swimming competitively as a youth to obtaining his private pilot's license as an adult. David was also an avid bowler, spending a multitude of time coaching novices at Jordan Lanes in Allentown. He enjoyed golfing, boating, skiing, and camping. David was a basketball enthusiast and held season tickets for the Philadelphia 76ers for several years. Upon graduating from the prestigious Perkiomen Prep School in Pennsburg, PA, David briefly attended Widener University until he made the decision to enlist in the army. David unfortunately sustained an injury during duty and was medically discharged. He went on to work for several years for Clover Cable in Vineland, NJ, but ultimately returned to Allentown, PA to work alongside his father, Lester, at his company, Community Programs Incorporated. David was a community development consultant for well over two decades until Lester's untimely passing on April 20, 2011. David was by all accounts a family man. He found extraordinary joy in being around those that he cared about, including his wife, Heidi Unterberg (Weber) of Kunkletown, his children, their spouses, and his 13 grandchildren. David took immense pride in being a dependable son, a reliable, encouraging brother, and a present and available father and Opa. His vibrant, outgoing personality, generosity, and crude sense of humor will be missed by many. David was predeceased by his father, Lester I. Unterberg (Allentown), and his former spouse, Donna Smocovich-Ford (OKC). He is survived by his wife, Heidi (Weber) Unterberg of Kunkletown, PA, his mother, Jean (Schelberger) Unterberg of Allentown, his children: Tiffani Rose (Unterberg) Wright and husband Alvin Sr. of Allentown, PA, Stacey (Unterberg) Hill and husband Brandon of Breinigsville, PA, Hailie Rosenberger-Unterberg and fiancee De'Von Rice-Saunders of Allentown, PA, and Samuel Cutler Unterberg and wife, Kyra, of Kunkletown, PA, his grandchildren: Anthony, Franchesca, Dominic, Donnivan, Elysiah, Kaden, Nyomi, Kameryn, Brielle, Rylan, Melody, Samuel Jr. , De'Von Jr. (DJ), and his great grandson, Xzavion. His siblings and their families: Phillip Unterberg (brother), and wife Tracie of Allentown, PA, niece Brittney (Furbur) Beiler and husband Corey of Emmaus, PA, and nephew Michael Unterberg of Allentown, PA. Sister, Debra Unterberg-Steele of Allentown, PA, nephews Andrew Steele of Bethlehem, Stephen Steele and Joshua Steele of Allentown, PA.
