Reese Walls Jenkins, affectionately known as "Pee Wee", went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2023, in Miami Lakes, Florida. He was a former Camp Hill resident. Born August 12, 1926, in Sunbury, PA, he was the eldest son of William Benjamin Jenkins, Sr. , and Pauline Jenkins. Reese was a 1944 graduate of John Harris High School. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the navy. He was a proud WWII veteran who served on the USS Intrepid CV11, which was the most frequently hit aircraft carrier of WWII. He was an Aviation Storekeeper V. Third Class. After his honorable discharge when the war was over, he went to work as a civil servant for the Navy. He also resumed his musical endeavors for 58 years, as well as teaching drumming for 28 years. Reese retired as a Supervisor Deputy with the former Navy Parts Control Center (Mechanicsburg Naval Depot) with 45 years of service in the Marine Propulsions Systems. Since 1955, Reese was a 32nd degree mason, ancient accepted Scottish Rite Lodge member. Reese was a longtime member of Perseverance Mason Royal Arch Lodge #21, Harrisburg Consistory, Valley of Harrisburg, charter member of the Zembo Shrine, Life member of the Zembo Oriental Band 1969 and a noble in 1953, of which he was the Director Emeritus and the band was renowned internationally with over 121 first places and Reese was awarded #1 Director 5 times, life member of Harrisburg Council #7, Pilgrim Commandery #11, Life member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon #43, Perry-Juniata Shrine Club, Harrisburg Musical Association local 269, life member of the VFW post 537, a life member of the American legion Post 914, St. Lawrence Lodge #13, life sponsor Knights Templar Eye foundation, charter member of the WWII Memorial and a Plankowner of the US Navy Memorial , Former crewmember of the USS Intrepid CV11. Also, Reese was a member of the Train Collection Assoc. The Spring class of Zembo Shrine was named in his honor, the Reese Jenkins Class in 1986. Survivors are his wife Catherine Jenkins (Rene), daughter Dawn Jenkins and husband Daniel Fulghum, nephew Stephen Jenkins, cousins: Robert Wendt, Gary Wendt and Lois Reynolds and extended family members. Reese was preceded in death by his parents, William Benjamin Jenkins Sr. and Pauline Jenkins, and his brother, William Benjamin Jenkins II, as well as his nephew, William Benjamin Jenkins III. Masonic and funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with Rev. Donald Potter of Camp Hill Presbyterian Church officiating. Viewing will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Following the service, burial with full military honors will be at Rolling Green Cemetery, in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.
