Andrea Lynn Buonincontro passed away on April 23, 2023. 47 years was not long enough to live with and love Andrea. . . she is survived by these people who loved her the most. . . Her beloved parents, Guy and Barbara (nee Obohoski) Buonincontro, her loving brother and sister in law, Michael and Angela Buonincontro and her boyfriend and dearly loved lifetime companion, Brian Linson. Her brother's words speak volumes about Andrea and her life. . . . My little sister was tougher than me. Truth be told, she was probably tougher than most of us. Born with spina bifida, which left her paralyzed from the waist down, she declared her independence from the moment she learned to use her walker at the age of three. She thrived in school, earning a degree in psychology from Loyola University Maryland. She stayed local, working her way up to executive director of Making Choices for Independent Living, a non-profit agency that offered advocacy, peer counseling, and independent living skills training. In 2006, the Maryland Rehabilitation Association awarded her with their Humanitarian Award, "presented to an individual who has exercised notable leadership in removing environmental or legal barriers, thereby preventing discrimination against individuals with disabilities and supporting the rights and benefits due to every citizen. "Andrea had a very strong sense of right and wrong. She protested, rallied, and marched. She made life-long friends wherever she went. She handed out sandwiches to the homeless. She was the inspiration for my college admission essay. She was the best dog sitter for Angie and me and our two little nut jobs. She played tennis with Ivan Lendl. She was a daredevil. She listened. She cared. She had a happy life with her boyfriend, Brian, and their dog Bosco. Despite years of almost constant pain, she was always available to help anybody in need. Andrea passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the age of 47. A fighter to the end, a complication from a condition proved to be the one barrier she could not break through. We were fortunate to have a chance to say our goodbyes, something that is not afforded to everybody. I told her how much I loved her, how grateful I was to have such a wonderful sister, and how proud I was of the amazing person she grew up to be. She is now whole, and she is without pain, and she will be missed forever. Services will be private. In her memory, she would have liked you to donate to the K. I. N. D. Fund (Kids in Need of Desks); please see https://bit. ly/41YrrxE for more information. Also in her memory, never be afraid to extend a helping hand.
