John Scott

Age - 102

December 7, 2023

John Joseph Scott, 102, passed away at home peacefully on November 24, 2023 after a rich and blessed life. He was born on August 1, 1921 to John and Grace Scott in Chicago, IL. He is survived by his loving daughter, Gayle (Philip) Perzek and his beloved granddaughter, Rachel (Daniel) Egan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, five sisters and one brother. John was a WWII veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He bravely served in General Patton's 3rd Army in the 177th Field Artillery Battalion in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany for two and half years. When he returned home to Chicago, he met and married the love of his life, Marion. Marion and John celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary in October, and were an inspirational example of a true partnership. After Marion's recent passing on November 1st, 2023, it was clear that John did not feel complete without her and missed her greatly. John was always an incredibly hard worker both professionally and personally. He was a co-owner of Kickert School Bus Line, one of the first school bus companies in the state of Illinois, and put in long, physical hours to make the business successful. What he will be remembered most for is how he loved his family; serving others was his love language. "Call me anytime, day or night" was his standing invitation to his family. Whether mowing the lawn, planting flowers, running an errand, dropping off a meal or giving a ride, John could not do enough for his loved ones. John also rescued countless cats and dogs, many that he ended up keeping as his own pets. He had a special gift - animals loved and trusted John within a few minutes of being around him. He loved working with his hands and there wasn't much that he couldn't figure out on his own. He painted rooms, installed wallpaper, built a dollhouse and even finished his daughter's basement, complete with a full wet bar. He had a beautiful singing voice, even at 102, and it was how he expressed his joy. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and a caring spirit that put others at ease. One of John's favorite passions was golf and he played until he was 96. John and Marion made Christ Church of OakBrook their church home for many years. He was a strong and joyful believer. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 2-5pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St. Willowbrook, IL 60527. Services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Bible League International or Best Friends Animal Society . To to the family or in memory of John Scott, pleaseShow more

Age - 67

Raymond Joseph Wolff, age 67, went to be with the Lord on November 19th, 2023. He was born in Evergreen Park, IL. He had a high school education and worked at Jewel Foods for 40 years. Ray was inquisitive about many different topics. He would go to the library to check out books and ask for help on the internet from the very kind and helpful people who worked there. He had a vast interest in many topics ranging from astronomy to geography. He also had a powerful telescope on the back patio in which to view the night sky. From the very young he loved practicing and performing magic tricks and card tricks for the family. He also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and recently renewed an interest in playing chess. He used to enjoy clay target shooting with our brothers. His greatest passion was playing pool. He finally got his wish when we moved from Burbank to Bolingbrook and our father let him purchase his own pool table. He would study the art of pool playing and would be able to perform many trick shots over 50 years and several people commented that he was the best they've ever seen. He also liked to go fishing at the local ponds and spending time at Whalon Lake in Bolingbrook. He loved to reminisce with the family on past childhood memories and he loved to watch old TV shows from the '60's and also older movies. His favorite movie was the Time Machine. I always liked that movie as well. But he did keep up on current events by watching the news and weather reports and would discuss with Tommy. He was very proud of the miles he put on his bike at one point in his life as he had an odometer. He loved animals and had a great compassion for them including the back yard birds, squirrels and even an opossum!. He fed them each day. I could tell he loved his family and loved being with them. I'm sure he would've liked to spend more time with us. He showed care and concern if one of us was ill. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Bernice Wolff, his siblings Diane and (Justin) Sugar, Gary Wolff, and Christine Thompson. He is survived by his other siblings, David (Joan) Wolff, Jeannette (Tommy) Lafond, Carol Houghton, and brother-in-law Robert Thompson. His surviving nieces and nephews include Jeff and Brandy Bittinger (great niece Alyssa), Marine and Russell (Julie) Thompson, Nicholas Houghton and Nicholas' sister Marissa. A visitation will be held on Tuesday November 28, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S Madison St. Willowbrook, IL 60527. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday November 29, 2023 for a 10am funeral mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 440 E Briarcliff Road, Bolingbrook, IL 60440.
