Amparo DeLeon, aged 72, of Big Lake, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas. She was born in El Moral, Coahuila, Mexico, on September 28, 1950, to the late Francisco Rodriguez and Sofia Fuentes. Amparo was a simple lady with a big loving heart. She was the cherished matriarch of her loving family, a source of strength and love to all who knew her. Her passions in life included gardening, particularly tending to her beloved roses. Amparo's family held a special place in her heart, and she showed her love through the meals she lovingly prepared for them. Each dish was a testament to the love and care she poured into her family. Amparo treasured spending time with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Rodriguez and Sofia Fuentes, and her beloved daughter, Brenda Galindo. Amparo leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mario DeLeon, Sr. , her loving sons, Hector DeLeon and wife Teresa, and Mario DeLeon and wife Irma, as well as her adoring daughter, Idalia Portales and husband Alvaro; and son-in-law, Daniel Galindo, III. She is also survived by her caring brothers, Alberto Rodriguez and Jesus Rodriguez, and her sisters, Maria Ramos and husband Arnoldo, and Rosa Gullen and husband Rosendo. Amparo's memory will be forever honored by her fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Funeral services to celebrate Amparo's life will be held at 11 a. m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at First Assembly Church in Big Lake, Texas, with Pastor Jim Trask officiating. Following the service, a burial and committal ceremony will take place at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake. Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Albert Portales, Cixto Galindo, Mario DeLeon, Jr. , Angel Portales, Joshua DeLeon, and Josue Sanchez. Amparo DeLeon will be remembered for her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy of love, family, and cherished moments will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.
