Amanda Washington Obituary

Mother Amanda Washington, affectionately known as Maw-Maw by her grandchildren, was born March 5, 1930, in McComb, MS. , to the late John and Betsy Perkins Boss. She was called to her heavenly home on April 26, 2023, at the age of 93. She served 50+ years at Beulah Land Baptist Church. She worked as a pressor for TLC Linen Services for over 25 years and worked at Copper Kitchen and Mackey Janitorial Service. She leaves to cherish her legacy, her daughter Verga Havard Fortenberry Scott; and her son James White (Sheila), first husband Sidney Havard Jr. , 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents John and Betsy Perkins Boss; husbands George Washington & James White, daughter, Shirley Celestine; seven brothers: Harry Lee, Curtis, John, Samuel, L. B. , Issac, and Tommy Boss; and three sisters: Mary, Ellen, and Hattie Boss Shaw; and six great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life Service: Saturday, May 13, 2023, for 10:00 a. m. at Beulah Land Baptist Church, 2436 St. Maurice St. , New Orleans, LA.
