Alvin J. Magid, D. D. S. , peacefully passed away at home on October 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 89. Alvin was born on April 21, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Irving and Ella Magid. After attending Northwestern University, Alvin received his doctorate in dentistry at Case Western Reserve University. Alvin proudly served as Captain in the U. S. Army, stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the early 1960's. Following his military service, he built a successful career in dentistry. Alvin operated his private dental practice and also served as a respected adjunct staff member at the Cleveland Clinic. Often referred to as "Al," Alvin was a kind-hearted and gentle person. He had a warm sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. Throughout his life, Alvin pursued his passion for photography, capturing precious moments with artistic flair. His talents were recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In addition to photography Al and Lorrie traveled extensively around the world and Al was an active cyclist and sailor for many years. For almost two decades he was president of his homeowners' association and served as an effective and forward-thinking leader. Alvin's devotion extended to his loving family. He shared 66 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lorrie. Together, they created many cherished memories. Alvin is also survived by his son, Keith (Zafi), along with their children, Rotem (Niran) and Tomer, of Israel, his daughter, Cindy (David), their two children, Alex of Palo Alto, CA, and Dahlia of Los Angeles. Alvin took great pride in his role as a great-grandfather to Ariel, Adam, and Be'eri, from Hadera, Israel. Alvin will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. A funeral service will be held at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S Taylor Rd, Cleveland Hts, OH 44118 on Monday October 9 at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, 27855 Aurora Rd, Solon, OH 44139. The family will receive friends at the Magid residence, 33870 Redbridge Lane, Solon, OH on MONDAY FOLLOWING INTERMENT UNTIL 8 PM, TUESDAY FROM 2 - 5 PM AND 6:30 - 8 PM In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fairmount Temple in Beachwood, Ohio, or the Cleveland Food Bank. Alvin J. Magid will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and artistic talents. May his memory be a blessing.
