"IN MEMORY OF: ALVIN RAY GRIFFITH Serving Location: CRAIN PLEASANT GROVE-MURDALE FUNERAL HOME 31 Memorial Drive (Old Route 13), Murphysboro, Illinois Alvin R. Griffith, age 93 of Elkville passed away September 8, 2023 in SSM Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon. He was born September 3, 1930 in Reevesville to Ira and Ollie (Hazel) Griffith. He married Alma (Gower) Hill on April 19, 1996. They shared 23 years of making wonderful memories. Alma preceded him in death on May 6, 2019. Alvin proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Elkville First Baptist Church. He retired from the United States Postal Service. He loved gardening and genealogy. Alvin is survived by his children, William (Hilary) Griffith of Romona, CA; Shawn Griffith of Crainville; Marcia (Russel) Rock of Tuscon, AZ and Denise (Dale) Presswood of Carbondale; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; daughters, Vicki Eberhardt and Connie Harrison; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral Services for Alvin R. Griffith will be Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Slone officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 127 of Murphysboro. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of love can be directed to Elkville First Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home. "

"Robert "Rob" James McLean, age 51, of Dongola, Illinois, died at his home, on October 30, 2023. He was born in Flint, Michigan, on June 19, 1972, to Richard Leon Hart and Beverly June (Brown) McLean. Rob grew up in Lake City, Michigan, before the family moved to St. Ignace, Michigan, and Mackinac Island, Michigan. He graduated from Mackinac Island High School with the class of 1990. He started working on the island for Joe Plaza at Arrowhead Carriages and went to Farrier school and became a Licensed Farrier and did shoeing for several years. He then began working with his father doing concrete and block work before returning to drive carriages for Gough Carriages. Rob drove horses on the island until he went to Illinois, with his brother Gary, to help out a friend. After a few months he decided to settle and resided in Illinois for fifteen years, while working at the meat market, processing deer and smoking meats and sausages. Rob was a member of the Veterans Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Sons of the Straits. Rob loved watching sports games, especially his favorite teams, the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing. He was a gun enthusiast, and an avid knife collector. He loved problem solving, horses, and playing games. He would give anything to anyone and was known for being a great person with a big heart and a great sense of humor. Rob is survived by his brother, Jack McLean of St. Ignace; sister, Michele McLean of Mackinac Island; aunt, Bobbie Lee of Hessel, Michigan; aunt and uncle, Dale and Jodi Gough of Pickford, Michigan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard "Leon" and Beverly; grandparents, Jennie Hart, and Jack \u0026amp; June Brown; and brother, Gary W. McLean. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 18th from 2:00 PM - 5 PM at the VFW AUX 5114 located at 1110 N State St. , St. Ignace, Michigan. Jean married James "Curtis" Barringer on December 23, 1960 and spent 43 loving and blessed years together until his passing in 2014. He was born October 5, 1970 in Carbondale to Darryl and Paula (Stewart) Huppert. Bill was an Administrator for the Murphysboro Middle School, as a teacher and a coach. He was a member of the Murphysboro Teacher's Association and the Elks in Murphysboro. He loved to golf and fish but his greatest joy was the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, he was a dedicated Cardinal fan. Bill is survived by his father, Darryl Huppert of Murphysboro; a sister, Leah (Jeff) Patterson of Murphysboro; a nephew, Chandler Patterson of Murphysboro; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of students and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Paula Kay Huppert; paternal grandparents, Billie and Mildred Huppert and maternal grandparents, Clifford and Pauline Batteau. She was born July 26, 1927 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Thomas McLain and Elsie H. (Seidelmeier) Alexander. Her father passed when she was a young child. Her mother Elsie later married Levenis "Beanie" Leinenbach. She and Leonard W. Lowes were married April 4, 1946. He preceded her in death Nov. 29, 2007. Jackie decided after raising her children to get her college degree, at the age of 40. She proudly graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in social work from Southeast Missouri State University. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Mary's Parish. Loving survivors include five children and their spouses, Mary Ann (Andy) Halter of Sikeston, Missouri; Jim (Pamela) Lowes of Edmond, Oklahoma; Steve (Jane) Lowes of Elwood, Indiana; Ken (Linda) Lowes of Sikeston, Missouri; Greg (Cindy) Lowes of West Plains, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Edie Lowes of Cape Girardeau; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; babies at birth, Timothy Joseph and Betty Jane; son, Richard and his wife, Earleen Lowes, son, David Lowes; daughter, Sara Gramm; granddaughters, Victoria and Donna.
