Althea Helen Savage peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Althea was a native of Auckland, New Zealand. She met her husband, Houston Zack Savage, who was in the U. S. Navy stationed in the Pacific. As a war bride she came to the United States on a troopship carrying Japanese prisoners arriving in San Fransico. After traveling to Jackson and Pascagoula, they returned to New Zealand and resided there for ten years before returning to the states. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, reading and was a wonderful seamstress. She was also a ladies exercise instructor with the City of Biloxi. Althea was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Francis Preston of Auckland, New Zealand; brother, Jack Preston of Auckland, New Zealand; husband, Houston Zack Savage of Biloxi, MS; and daughter, Francine Katherine Savage of Biloxi, MS. Survivors include her daughters, Robin Ann Hebert (Tommy, Sr. ) of D’Iberville, MS, Rebecca Foret (Glenn) of Biloxi, MS, Rochelle Decicco (Jim) of Fair Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Tommy Hebert, Jr. (Linda), Sean Hebert, Chad Hebert (Denise), Christopher Foret (Karlene), Cherie Gerlits (Danny), Alex Decicco, and Elizabeth Decicco; great-grandchildren, Dr. Justin Hebert (Nikki), Dallas Hebert, Saige Hebert, Rylan Hebert, Zachary Foret, Gabrielle Foret, Conner Gerlits, Caroline Gerlits, and Cate Gerlits; and her great-great grandchildren, Finn Hebert, Blair Hebert, and baby Zane Hebert due in December 2023. Althea is also survived by a sister, Beverly Pooley of Auckland, New Zealand; numerous nieces and nephews in New Zealand; and her dear friends, Kevin Clay, Joyce Kotulski, Doris Kitch, and Geneva Bunch and her family. We will all truly miss our beloved mom, nanny, and great nanny. Her precious smile and gentle nature we will dearly miss. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at Greenbriar Nursing Center and to Vital Caring Hospice for all of their loving care and compassion for our mom. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Biloxi National Cemetery. Madonna Landry Boos (March 23, 1932-December 4, 2023) lived an amazing 91 years and passed peacefully from this life to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on December 4, 2023, at home with her family. Madonna was preceded in death by her father Anatole Landry, mother Emily Chauvin Landry Schwarzenbach, stepfather Robert Schwarzenbach and two sisters, Shirley Geagan and Barbara Navarre. Madonna is survived by her loving husband of 72 years Gerard "Jerry" Boos Sr, her brother, Robert "Buddy" Landry, seven children, Jerry Jr. (June), Yvonne Garcia (Philip), Donna Roth (Mike), Mary Klein (Frank), Jeff Boos (Lisa), Dave Boos (Paula), Annie Ladner (Brad). Madonna was most proud of her 20 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren whom she loved most dearly. Madonna loved helping people enjoying her years as the owner of "The Unique Shop" in Waveland. Family was everything to Madonna and she cherished the time whenever she got to talk or visit with her family. Madonna and her loving husband love to travel especially with family and friends. For 37 years Hawaii became their second home. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Mass Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Bay St. Louis. Audrey Marion Lechner Batia, 95, passed away December 2, 2023. She was born September 6, 1928 in Biloxi along-side her twin sister Aurelia to Henry and Maude "Baker" Lechner. Audrey embraced life with a spirit of elegance and a heart full of compassion. Known for her warm welcoming heart, she touched the lives of those around her in ways words cans scarcely capture. Her genuine love and kind heart brought comfort to all those that were fortunate enough to know her. Audrey graduated from Biloxi High School with the Class of 1947. She retired in 1991, from AAFES at Keesler Airforce Base where she proudly spent that time as a supervisor over book keeping for the warehouse. Beyond her professional endeavors, Audrey had a profound love for exploration. Her passion for travel took her across America, creating memories that enriched her life. Yet, amidst her adventures, she found solace in the simple joys – basking in the sun, spending tranquil days on the porch, and cherishing life’s quiet moments – welcoming neighbors and friends with open arms. May her love continue to resonate in the gentle breeze, the warmth of the sun, and the shared laughter of those who were touched by her remarkable presence. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William Eugene Batia; her parents, Henry and Maude Lechner; sisters, Margaret Lechner Parker and Aurelia Lechner LeBatard; brother, Alton Lechner; son, William "Bill" Batia; and daughter, Becky Batia. Audrey is survived by her beloved family including daughter, Pamela Batia Geiser; daughter-in-law, Sara Smith Batia; grandchildren, Michelle (Steve) Hall, Georgia (Lance) Dotson, April (Shane) Brown, William "Billy" (Lee) Batia, Jaime (Crystal) Geiser Istre, Jenny (Aaron) Parker and Natalie (Olivia) Geiser; great-grandchildren, Cole, Zach, Lauren (Josh), Stone, Cannon, Madison, Bryson, Cade, Asher and Elijah; two great-great grandchildren, Addie and Archie; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held at Church of the Redeemer on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00 am. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 am until the service begins. Lucille Collins was born in Baton Rouge, LA on November 8, 1931 and died peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard Collins. Lucille is survived by her children, Karen Redd (Eddy), Linda Collins, Kenneth Collins, Patricia Mangrum (Michael) and Nancy Butts (Michael). She was the proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Annie Redd, William Redd, Matthew Mangrum, Benjamin Mangrum, Thomas Mangrum and Riley Collins. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Collins (Mrs. Francis X Collins). Lucille was born in Baton Rouge, LA where she met the love of life, Leonard Collins. They married in 1957 and moved to Gulfport, MS where they raised their 5 children. She was a faithful member of St. James Parish. Up until her death, she was a regular adorer at the St. James Adoration Chapel. Along with her faith, the most important part of her life was her family. She enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 12:00 p. m. at St. James Catholic Church, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 11:00. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery, Biloxi. Dr. John Allan Brazitis, age 83, of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away on November 29, 2023. Born on May 13, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Florence Brazitis, he leaves behind a legacy marked by profound contributions and a life rich with accomplishments. A dedicated father and esteemed military veteran, John served in the United States Air Force, where he excelled as an Avionics Navigation System Technician, Telecommunication Specialist, and Electronics Instructor. John retired honorably at the rank of TSgt after a distinguished 20-year career. Beyond his military service, John achieved other notable milestones including the attainment of a PhD in Hypnotherapy, becoming a licensed Hypnotherapist. His private practice provided invaluable support to numerous patients: addressing emotional challenges, aiding smoking cessation, and facilitating weight loss journeys. John's commitment extended beyond his professional endeavors. A respected Past Master at both PolarStar Lodge #154 and Gulfport Lodge #422, he played an integral role in establishing the latter and garnered admiration among his Masonic peers. Additionally, he was an active member of the Shriners clown unit, bringing joy to hospitalized children under the persona of Beffums. He is survived by his four children: Daniel (Norma), Karen (Randy, deceased), John, and Michael (Sandra), as well as his younger sister, Janet Rupp, and her three sons. John leaves behind a legacy through his ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Throughout his military career, John and his family traversed various locations worldwide, including Germany, France, Ohio, Florida, Hawaii, Mississippi, and California, with overseas postings in Pakistan and Thailand. Settling in Gulfport, Mississippi, for the past five decades, he contributed to the community, including a tenure at Mason Chamberlin Ammo Plant before retiring fully. John's love for the southern lifestyle was evident in his pursuit of hunting and fishing, where he became an accomplished Bass fisherman, securing victories in numerous tournaments. An avid golfer, he cherished rounds played across different courses alongside his sons. His talents extended to the realm of art, with his paintings showcased at the Pentagon's Visitor Center. A service commemorating John's life will take place at 11:00 am on December 7, 2023, at Riemann Funeral Home (11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport), featuring Masonic Funeral Rites. Following the service, a funeral procession will honorably convey John to the Biloxi National Cemetery, where he will be interred with full military honors. Garlon Darrell Martin went to his heavenly home November 30, 2023. He passed peacefully with family at his side. He was born August 25, 1941, in Carson, MS. In August 1962, he married the love of his life, Willie Dean Sumrall. He worked in insurance, construction and law enforcement over the years. He came to the coast in 1985 for work and made it his new home. He had a special place for law enforcement. Hiring on with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department in 1989, he spent 16 years in the Transport Division. He loved Southern Gospel music and traveled around to take in local "gospel sings" for years. His main hobby was fishing. He enjoyed being on the water and catching speckled trout. Anyone who has ever fished with him has a funny story of being on the water with him. He was always an active member of a local church. Through the years, he sang, taught Sunday School and BTU. He loved the Lord and his people. He was a faithful member of Redemption Church in Diamondhead until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents, Garlon and Lavern Martin, and his sister Brenda Davis. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dean Martin; his two children, Kenny Martin( Leah) and Anita Lawrence (Delton); two grandchildren, Wesley( Holley) and Nicole (Jamey); and five great-grandchildren, Lawson, Grayson, Hudson, Eloise, and Emersyn. His service will be on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road Gulfport, MS 39503. Visitation will be at 1:00 pm and funeral service at 2:00 pm.
