Alma Bland Obituary

Alma Bland, 98, of Paragould, formerly of corning passed away May 8, 2023 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. Mrs. Bland was born August 29, 1924, in Corning. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, puzzles, cooking and canning. She loved taking care of and raising her children and grandchildren. On April 24, 1956, she married Melvin Bland in Hernando, MS. They were married 41 years prior to his death on October 21, 1997. Survivors include her children Debbie Pyle of Paragould and Sue Crawley of Corning; grandchildren Jim (Karen) Crawley, Trish (Stan) Segraves, Shona (Dan) Potts, and Joey Pyle; 10 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Frederick Horace and Pansy May (Purvis) Poynor; brothers Ralph, Albert, Harold and Bob Poynor; sisters Nita Mahan, Mary Cantwell, Freida Schlueter, and Jeanne Debord; and sons-in-law Harold Crawley and Freddie Pyle. Visitation will be held Wednesday May 10, 2023, from 6 to 8 p. m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning.
