It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Eunice V. Donlon who passed away peacefully in her home at Mt. Arlington Senior Living on December 1 st , 2023 surrounding by loved ones at the age of 90. Eunice was born on February 14, 1933 in Queens, NY and is survived by her husband of 69 years, Francis (Frank) Donlon. Eunice and Francis moved to Denville in October 1959 and lived in the Indian Lake section of Denville for 63 years before selling their house and moving into Mt. Arlington Senior Living in February 2022. Eunice worked for many years as a bus driver for the Denville Schools and for the Township of Denville. She helped coordinate the startup of the Denville Senior Citizen Transportation and drove the first Senior Citizen bus for many years. While living in Denville, Eunice was a Eucharistic Minister for many years and engaged in many of the activities within St. Mary's Church. She leaves behind her husband, Francis (Frank) Donlon, her children, Frank Donlon and his wife Jeryl, Eunice Gawlik and her husband Scott, Mary M. Gomez and her husband Richard, Sean Donlon and his wife Christine, Patrick Donlon and his wife Carol and Theresa Donlon and her fiance Charles Mounteer; her grandchildren, Christopher Donlon (Kelly), Leanne Mohla (Gautam), Andrew Donlon, Elizabeth Gawlik, Carolyn Gawlik (Ryan), Brian Gawlik, Shannon Gomez (Beth Anne), Maryclaire Gomez (Michael), Jack Donlon, Chelsea Donlon, Gwendolyn Lavelle (Austin), Sara Stanulis (Scott), Kyle Stanulis (Larissa), and Ryan Stanulis; and her great grandchildren, Mia, Marcus, Lucas, Bryce and Eleanor. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Joanne Kelly, her siblings Martin, Joan, and John (Jack) and grandson-in-law Thomas Lavelle. A Memorial Mass for Eunice is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12 th at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 15 Myers Ave, Denville, NJ. All are welcome to come and celebrate her life. Interment will follow immediately after at Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island, NY. Marjorie Ann (Preston) Philippe passed away at home in Denville surrounded by her family on November 28, 2023, at the age of 94. Born in Queens, NY to Myron and Mary Catherine (McGee) Preston, she grew up in Bayside, Detroit and Pittsburgh. She worked at Bell Labs for a while. The family moved back to Bayside after high school, where she eventually attended The Art Students League in New York City. It was at the Art Students League where she met Paul Aldo Philippe, who she married in 1956, living in Manhattan and moving to Summit NJ and then onto permanent residence in Denville in 1964. Marjorie was involved in art and artistic pursuits throughout her life, and was involved with the Riverview School FunFair and illustrated the pictures for the Riverviewer. She volunteered for the Denville Community Gardens, the Denville Historical Society, St. Claire's Harvest Festival. She also loved embroidery, especially cross stitch. Marjorie also designed cross stitch charts for Schoolroom samplings and often used her husband's hand carved Santas as inspiration. She was a member of the EGA and FCE. She was an avid knitter and enjoyed quilting. Marjorie was always willing to share her knowledge in helping others learn her skills. Her grandchildren will miss her hand-knit "Gramma" socks. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Art Students League in NYC in the 1960s. She was a recipient of the Ettore Minervino award in 1985, and was one of the Grand Marshalls of Denville's Centennial celebration. Marjorie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul Aldo Philippe in 1986, and by her son-in-law, Anthony Freda in 2012. She is also predeased by her two sisters, Betty Jane and Jean, and her brother Kenneth. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Rebecca Toledo and Jane Freda, both of Denville, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Paul Neistadt, Damon Neistadt, Loren Freda, Catherine Freda and Christopher Toledo, and two great grandchildren, the apples of her eye, Sara Shipley and Lucas Neistadt. She is also survived by two nieces, Gail Saukas and Jill Williams, and a nephew, Rick Williams, and several great nieces and nephews and many friends. Lois A. Lawrence (Newsome) of Denville, NJ our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was called home to rest in eternity with the Lord on October 15, 2023, at Morristown Medical Center after a brief illness, she was 77 years young. Lois was born March 31, 1946, in Franklin, VA to the late Harry B. Newsome Sr. and Gracie L. Newsome (Ricks). Lois worked for many years in the pharmaceutical industry, she worked for Warner Lambert/Pfizer and Knoll Pharmaceuticals as a supervisor/group leader for many years before retiring. Lois was a longtime resident of Morristown where she was known and respected by all that knew her. In April 1956 she married Arthur W. Lawrence Sr. and from this union they had 5 children, she leaves to cherish her memory 2 children M. Melissa Lawrence and Arthur W. Lawrence Jr. (Junebug), 2 bonus children/grandchildren Taleeya N. Lawrence, Na'Zyia S. Honour and a very special great-grandson, King ZW. Burke. Five sisters: Aleen Newsome, Diane Hobbs (Wilfred), Cynthia Newsome Bell, Gracie Taylor (Guy) and Dorothy Newsome. Three brothers Donnie Newsome (Mattie), Jimmy Newsome (Catherine) and Harry Newsome (Eunice). As well as 10 grandchildren Taleeya N. Lawrence, Na'Zyia S, Honour, Jessica Dorsey, Alesha M. Hendrickson, Nicole Sylvester, Isaiah M. Lawrence, Ezekiel M. Lawrence, Xavier E. Lawrence, Jacob D. Lawrence and Jada L. Lawrence also 8 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lois is preceded in death by her husband Arthur W. Lawrence Sr. (2021), sons Bruce E. Lawrence (1996), Donald "Fats" Lawrence (1993) and Ronald "Skinny" Lawrence (2022). Siblings who preceded her in death are Barbara Newsome, Christine Everhart, Walter Newsome, Willie Newsome andJames A. Newsome. Lois A. Ellen Testa, a resident of Rockaway Twp. , New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville. She was 77. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to the late Arnaldo and Edith Gremmo, Ellen resided in North Bergen for 24 years before making Rockaway her home 53 years ago. Ellen dedicated a significant part of her life to Morris Knolls High School as an Instructional Aide, contributing her time and efforts to the educational community. Ellen is survived by her two sons, Michael Testa and John Testa, daughters-in-law Amy Testa and Michele Testa. She found immense joy in her role as a loving grandmother, showering affection upon her grandchildren: Amelia, Mia, Zoe, Melinda and Liliana. Her warmth and caring nature left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her. A visitation to celebrate Ellen's life will be held at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway, on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 4:30 - 7:00PM. A funeral service will conclude the visitation at the funeral home at 7PM. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Lorraine Durkin who passed away in the presence of her family on November 20 , 2023. She was a kind and caring woman who will be dearly missed. Judy was born in May of 1945 to Arthur and Doris Thompson. She was raised alongside her 3 siblings and graduated from Morris Hill High School. In her adult life Judy worked as a secretary and spent many years serving the Warner Lambert Pharmaceutical company. Even after her retirement she kept up with the friends she made there by joining the retirees club of Warner Lambert. She was also a member of the Nor-Bu Lodge in Rockaway and attended many functions there. She was also a member of the ladies' auxiliary club of the Rockaway Fire Department. In her free time, Judy loved to spend time with her husband, Robert Durkin. One of their favorite activities was to go to car shows as Robert was an avid collector of Studebaker cars. Judy was also very close with her nephew, Fred Dalton, and his family. Though we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with those who passed before her; her husband, Robert Dennis Durkin, her sister, Doris Reardon and her husband Ronald, and her parents, Arthur and Doris Thompson. It is now that we look to those she leaves behind to carry on her memory of love and kindness. Judy is survived by her brothers, Arthur J. Thompson and his wife Pamela, William J. Thompson and his wife Beverly, her nephew, Fred Dalton and his wife Shirley, and her great-nieces and nephew, Matthew, Christine, and Mandy.
