Alice Z. Snyder, 79, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at her residence. She was born in New Holland to the late Aaron and Hettie (Martin) Snyder. She was a member of Ephrata Bible Fellowship Church. Alice loved her cats, sewing, and quilting. She enjoyed cooking and tending to her garden. Alice was a great aunt to her entire family. Alice owned and operated Snyder's Daycare. She is survived by a son, Ed, husband of Tammy Snyder of Lititz; a daughter, Tina, wife of Randy Rathman of Rehoboth, DE; a granddaughter, Morgan Snyder; a grandson, Zachary Snyder and a brother, David Z. , husband of Eva Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Stauffer and a brother, Isaac Martin. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10 AM, at Steinmetz Cemetery, Stevens, with Pastor Dan Krall officiating. Claira (Clara) Vaccaro Ingram passed away on November 18, 2023 at age 95. She was a resident at the Zerbe Retirement Community, Narvon, and formerly of Reinholds. She was born on February 15, 1928 in Reading. She was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Iannello) Vaccaro. She was the wife of her late husband of 56 years, Martin Ingram. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Terry Lorah; five sisters: Jennie Vaccaro, Grace Bellanca, Mary Venezaile, Michaeline Etchberger and Angeline Harris; four brothers: Michael Vaccaro, Anthony Vaccaro, Angelo Vaccaro and Samuel Vaccaro. She is survived by her son, Martin Joseph Ingram (Judy), Stevens, two daughters, Joanne Lorah (Terry), Denver, Patricia Ann Bressler (David), Lititz; six granddaughters, Jessica Zook (Scott), Misty Ebersole (Mark), Amy Engle (Nathan), Erica Lorah-Rodriguez (Louie), Amanda Hess (Matthew) and Rachel Romanoski (Mark); four great-granddaughters, eight great-grandsons, and two great-great-grandsons; six siblings, Josephine Condos, Carmela Chipperfield, Antoinette Bauer, Jeannine Redcay, Johnny Vaccaro and Joe Vaccaro. Clara was employed as a seamstress at the Yorktown Company and the Keystone Nitewear Company. Clara attended Mellinger's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stevens. She enjoyed music, dancing, western movies, and treasured her time spent with her family and her many friends. She enjoyed plants and flowers, red roses being her favorite. She liked dogs and cherished the companionship they provided to her. She will be remembered as the originator of "Give-a-Hug Fridays " at the Cocalico Senior Citizens Center. Clara's family would like to thank the staff at the Zerbe Retirement Community for the fine care and support she received throughout her stay. She enjoyed her time there and made many friends. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will take place in the Mellingers Union Cemetery. Patricia A. Moyer, age 83, of Denver, PA, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2023. She was a homemaker, cherished wife of the late Charles D. Moyer, and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Patricia was born to Chester and Catherine Stuber in Reading PA. Patricia found joy in spending hours in her garden. She and her late husband, Charles, shared a passion for the open road on the back of their Harley together. They both also had a fondness for putting together puzzles with each other. Patricia loved yard sales and thrifting, always on the lookout for good buys. She also enjoyed exercising and spending time with her twin sister Carol. Patricia's warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her, and her love for family was immeasurable. Patricia is survived by her sons Tracy Moyer (Karen), and Ken Moyer (Gail). She leaves behind her loving grandchildren Dion Haldeman (Mindy), Tony Haldeman (Angie), Dani Graver (Kevin), Dezerai Addams (Steve), Christine Fry (Allan), Tawnie Moyer, Nicki Bastida, Morgan Moyer, Erica Moyer, and Kristin Moyer; and her 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is also survived by her twin sister Carol Martin and brother Bobby Stuber. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents Chester and Catherine Stuber, and children Catherine Ober and Charles "Doug" Moyer. Patricia will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Charles, at The Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Jennifer L. McCracken, 72, of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Magnolia's of Lancaster. She was born in York to the late Roger and Jennifer (Geysen) Rohrbaugh and was the wife of James K. McCracken, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Jennifer grew up in Mount Wolf, York County and Manheim, where she graduated from Manheim Central High School. She worked at the former Schick Electric Company, before she began working as an administrative assistant for Ephrata Middle School with 30 years of service. She was heavily involved in her children and grandchildren's lives, including volunteering in classrooms, teaching Sunday School at Bergstrasse Church, having leadership roles in the PTA, serving as a team mom for various sports teams, and participating in post prom committee. Jennifer had a passion for those who have the biggest needs. This included the loving relationships Jennifer had with students who had the biggest challenges in school. Jennifer would stay in touch with these kids when they left the middle school and would visit them at their jobs in the community. Jennifer was a phenomenal cook and hosted her entire family to weekly meals. An important part of the dinner was dancing with Grandma in the kitchen as the meal was being prepared and sneaking "Grandma's vitamins" (Wilbur Buds). Jennifer was a catalyst for good fun and would light up any room she entered! In addition to her husband, Jennifer is survived by two sons, Joshua J. , husband of Brooke McCracken, Jeremy M. , husband of Allison McCracken; six grandchildren, Meg, Tanner, Sam, Marie, Alec, Ben; two sisters, Alice wife of Bob Zangueneh, Audrey, wife of Wes Geib Sr. and a brother, Roger Rohrbaugh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Peter B. McCracken and a sister-in-law, Robin Rohrbaugh. The family would like to thank Michelle Butler and the staff at Magnolias for the loving care they provided. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 5 to 7 PM. at the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 7 PM, with Pastor Steven Hollinger officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A scholarship is being created in Jennifer's name for Ephrata High School students who have learning disabilities and hardships, so they may further their education or provide funding to prepare for their careers. Betty Jane Alexander, loving mother, grandma, and sister passed away at Maple Farm Nursing Center on October 25, 2023, at the age of 95. She was born in Ephrata on April 9, 1928, to the late Arthur and Elsie (Yost) Fasnacht. She was the wife of George Alexander, who passed away in 1985. Betty was a lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She attended the Wood Corner School in Lincoln (Ephrata) and graduated from Cornwall High School, class of 1945. She worked a variety of jobs, including working as a supply clerk in Middletown during WWII. She also worked at the Lebanon Box Factory, Hershey Chocolate, Ephrata Market, and the Ephrata Acme. She spent most of her career as a sewing supervisor at Walter W. Moyer in Ephrata. Family always came first; she enjoyed feeding and spoiling everyone. You never left her house without a Tupperware container of goodness and a bag of candy. She considered ice cream a breakfast food for her great-grandchildren, reminding their moms it was dairy! She liked traveling with her husband, kids, and friends and just plain old running around. She was known for her heavy foot and got her first speeding ticket in her 70's. She loved to read, go to yard sales, put puzzles together and babysitting for grands and great-grands. You couldn't get her to leave the TV when football or baseball were on, and she and her cousin Ella Mae Pannebecker made yearly pilgrimages to Williamsport "to see the kids play". She worked well into her 70's, had boundless energy, a force to be reckoned with. She was the sweetest person you ever met, and she was loved by all! Betty is survived by a daughter Carla (Susie), wife of Frank Gerhart of Dushore; a son Michael, husband of Becky Weber of Ephrata; four granddaughters, Kelly Gerhart, Jamie, wife of Keith Gerhart, Becky, wife of Troy Steffy, Tracy, wife of Paul Krieg; 10 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great grandchild; a sister, Fern Steininger and a brother Elwood Fasnacht. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Gibble; two brothers, Robert Fasnacht, Jerry Fasnacht; two great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter. The family would like to thank the staff of Maple Farm for loving Betty as much as her family did for these past three years. You are all amazing. Helen Grace Dinger Shirk Helen was born on a winter day on January 13th, 1920, to Evan and Sallie Dinger on a farm in Cocalico Township. She lived 103 years until her death on a beautiful fall day on October 18th, 2023. Her life was comprised of many historical experiences. Her birth year was the year women got the right to vote. She was able to survive the Great Depression as a result of farm living. She also experienced the hardships of World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Civil Rights Movement, the Kennedy Assassination, and the Beatles Invasion. She also experienced many things of wonder - the Moon Landing, the destruction of the Berlin Wall (in person), the great Internet revolution and Alexa. Helen had two brothers, Robert Lee (deceased) and John, married to Alice Ann. In 1940, Helen married P. Rudolph Shirk of Schoeneck, PA and had four children: Brian Thomas (married to Mary Alice), Paula, Ann Bettina, and Sally Jo (married to Bill Brasington). She is survived by eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Margery, Aimee, Eileen, Katherine, Alexandra, Eli and Rudi, and thirteen great grandchildren. Education was of prime importance to Helen as she overcame obstacles to get to school and walked two miles to reach the bus. She often stated in her later years that she would like to have pursued more educational opportunities. Her grandchildren were a source of pride and love and she took her role as grandmother to heart. The nurses that cared for her throughout her fifteen years at Ephrata Manor had a soft spot for Helen and truly loved her. The family thanks all staff of Ephrata Manor deeply as well as her many friends that she has had throughout the years, and all who showed kindness and love to her. She is already missed by many and will forever be part of our hearts and memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ephrata Manor in Helen's memory. A graveside service is planned for October 26, 2023, at Steimetz Cemetery at 11 AM. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. The Rev. James B. Miller, 97, of Reinholds, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. He was born in Lansford, PA, son of the late Stephen E. and Edith A. (Bulmer) Miller and was the husband of the late Mary Jane (Showalter) Miller who passed away in 2021. They had celebrated 72 years of marriage on October 23, 2020. Pastor Miller graduated from Lansford High School in 1943. He then went to Muhlenberg College and graduated with a B. A. Degree in Psychology and Religion. From there he went to Mt. Airy Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia. Pastor Miller graduated in May of 1949 and received a Master of Divinity Degree and was ordained on May 18th at Buck Hill Falls in the Poconos. He celebrated his 75th anniversary of his ordination on May 18, 2023. During the last two years of his studies at Mt. Airy he interned at Swamp Lutheran Church in Reinholds, Mellingers Lutheran in Schoeneck and Salem Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Following his graduation from the seminary he was called to the Cross Roads Lutheran Parish in Sunbury, PA. After 8-1/2 years he was called to St. Daniel's Lutheran Church in Robesonia, PA, after 19-1/2 years he was called to Christ Yocom's Lutheran Church in Grill, PA, where he stayed for 20 years. He then pastored at Vinemont Community Lutheran, Fritztown, PA, until his 2nd retirement in 1996. Pastor Miller also served as visitation Pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sinking Spring, PA, for 10-1/2 years. Pastor Miller had done graduate work at Penn State University, Gettysburg College, and the University of West Virginia. He served on boards of the former Central PA Synod as well as the Northeastern PA Synod. He served for a number of years as chairman of the Commission on the Union Church. He is listed in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Religion, and the Platform Speakers of America. He also served as Chaplain of AFSCME Retiree Union 8903. When he was no longer out on the road seeking his Lost Sheep and trying to get them back in the fold, he spent his retirement playing harp, carving birds, and attending craft shows to keep busy. Pastor Miller is survived by a son, James D. , husband of Mary Ann Miller of Reinholds; a granddaughter, Katherine Miller, and twin grandsons, James and Joshua Miller; 3 great-grandchildren. Clayton, Wyatt and Evie Miller. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Lorraine Reese and her husband, Col. Alfred L. Reese. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM at the Swamp Lutheran Church, 275 Swamp Church Road, Reinholds, PA 17569. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Scott V. Brubaker officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.
