Gregory Thomas McAleer, 70, of Eastpointe, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at his home. He was born November 11, 1953 in Detroit, the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (nee Spurlock) McAleer. Greg married Nancy Collica on July 28, 1973 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Roseville. Greg's grandchildren were everything to him. He enjoyed supporting them through sports and academics, but most of all the time he spent with them was unforgettable. He also enjoyed doing word searches. His favorite football team was University of Michigan. Greg is survived by his loving wife Nancy; children Amy Lagocki, Eric (Kristy) McAleer and Becky (Aaron) Astrauckas; grandchildren Samantha, Jacob, Sophia, Deric, Lily, Molly, Drew, Devin, Genevieve and Isabelle; siblings Debbie McAleer, Tim (Susie) McAleer and Tami Halpin. He is also survived by his four legged best friend Maggie. Greg is predeceased by his parents and sister Patti McAleer. His family honors the memory of Greg and invites you to visit and share memories on Tuesday, November 21 from 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Mt. Clemens. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 22 at 10:00 a. m. with 9:30 a. m. Instate at Holy Innocents St. Barnabas Church, 16359 Frazho Rd, Roseville. Jean Marie VanHouten, age 60, of Eastpointe, Michigan passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born August 16, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William & Phyllis VanHouten. Jean loved music, everything from Santana to Dr. Dre and Metallica and was able to take her sisters and her daughter all to their first concerts. She was a collector of dragon figures and an avid reader. Jean cherished more than anything spending her time with her grandkids and making memories with them. She enjoyed a good sunny day with the perfect weather at the beach She also enjoyed BBQ's, visiting apple orchards in the fall and Christmas movies year round. Jean is survived by her daughter, Kim Johnston; grandkids, Madison Emily, Peyton Irene, Alice Eileen; her best friend and best dog ever Frank aka Frank the tank; her sisters, Cathy VanHouten, Susan (Mike) Skovranko, Kellie (Ed) Farrell; a niece, Megan Skovranko; and nephew, Steven Hattle.
