Carrie Louise Odom Vincent was born to the late Hurley Jackson Odom, Sr. and Mary Virginia Cross Odom on January 9, 1949 in Holland, Virginia. She passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the fifth child of thirteen and graduated from Central High School (North Carolina) in 1968. After high school, she attended Portsmouth Community College for a year and worked at Union Camps for year prior to moving to Philadelphia. She also attended a few classes at Community College of Philadelphia. Carrie had one child, Samuel Lee, who passed away suddenly at 8 months old. Carrie did not have any other children after his passing but was a devoted volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and received an award for Big Sister of the Year. She was also actively involved with her nieces and nephews as well as other children in the neighborhood and church community. This included trips to the local skating rink, weekend and holiday adventures as well as church computer classes Carrie accepted Christ at an early age and later joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Southwest Philadelphia after becoming a resident of Pennsylvania. Carrie worked at Franklin Electric Company for 26 years and in her free time she was an avid reader, lover of fashion and music and helped anyone who needed it. Although Carrie never remarried, she had a longtime friend, Jimmie Edwards, who passed in December 2020. She is also preceded in death by three siblings (Ruby Lee, Ervin and Theophulis) Carrie is survived by nine siblings; Roy, Wesley (Wanda), Hurley Jackson Jr (Stephanie), Doretha (Garnet), Brenda, Earl, Carolyn (William), Randolf (Malinda) and Howard (Calveta) as well as one aunt (Helen) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.Show more

MICHAEL PAUL De MEO, age 71, passed away suddenly on November 30, 2023. Loving brother to Frank De Meo (the late Anne) and Alexander De Meo, Jr. (Dorothy Casale De Meo). Beloved uncle to Donna De Meo (Paul), Nancy De Meo (Scott), Lisa De Meo (Nicholas Brett), Alexander De Meo, III (Bridget Dugan), Nicholas De Meo, Forrest De Meo, Nicholas Szelagowski, Melissa Szelagowski, Allison Nowetner, Sarah Nowetner, and Laura Nowetner. Michael lived his life as a true Salesian gentleman, starting from his time at Father Judge High School, through his years as an oblate of St. Francis de Sales, until the time of his death. He taught Catholic high school for well over 40 years. Michael especially loved trains and trolleys. Mary Mcgill

Age - 90

Mary Lou McGill was born in Philadelphia on October 5, 1933, to Edward Joseph Stafford and Louise [nee Hayden] Stafford. She graduated from Cecelian Academy in Mount Airy where she was a basketball cheerleader. At the same time, she was a talented pianist who played the part of Edvard Gregg in concerts with the Trenton Symphony Orchestra, directed by Giuliano Sabatini, and performed at Town Hall in Center City. Mary Lou graduated from Chestnut Hill College in 1954, majoring in economics. She went on to work for the Western Savings Society in its tax department and soon met Frank McGill. They were married in 1957. She had five sons in the span of eight years: Francis (Esther), Edward (Lisa), Michael (Wade), Matthew (Romy), and Brendan (Jennifer). Frank and Mary Lou raised their sons in the Roxborough/Manayunk and West Mount Airy sections of Philadelphia. Summers were spent in Avalon, New Jersey. Frank and Mary Lou joined the Philadelphia Country Club ("PCC") in 1978, where she remained a member after her loving husband succumbed to a long battle with cancer in 1991. Frank and Mary Lou became daily communicants in 1980 which enriched their relationship with each other and the Lord. They would comment that it was a terrific way to start a day. Following Frank's death, Mary Lou set up a development program for parents and graduates at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy in Chestnut Hill, where her sons had gone to grammar school. After three years, with the job completed, she retired. During retirement, Mary Lou liked playing golf at PCC for many years with the "ladies' nine holers". She also started to travel with friends and spent winters in Jupiter, Florida, which allowed her to play golf year-round and solve crossword puzzles while sitting by the pool. Mary Lou was also on the Woman's Auxiliaries of Saint Edmond's Home for Children and the Saint Francis Home. In addition to her sons and daughters-in-law, she is survived by 11 grandchildren who nicknamed her "Manya". The visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 9AM to 11AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial.
