Alfred J. Tonguis Sr. , age 87, of New Orleans passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023. He was born on March 3, 1936 to the late Leed Tonguis, Sr. and Conjetta Loria Tonguis. Alfred was a graduate of (Delgado Trade School). He was a self-employed Sign Painter. Alfred loved coin collecting and wood turning. Alfred is preceded in death by his spouse of 34 years, Joyce Cruso Tonguis; his sisters, Phyllis Tonguis Mancuso, Elaine Tonguis and his brother, Paul Tonguis. Alfred is survived his daughters, Denise Tonguis Savoie, Karen Tonguis Vinet; his sons, Alfred Tonguis Jr; his sisters, June Lacy Duhe; his brother, Leed Tonguis Jr. ; his grandchildren, Adam Tonguis, Miranda Savoie, Camille Savoie Williams, Madeleine Vinet, Emily Vinet and Logan Vinet; his great-grandchildren, James Williams, Bowen Churchman and Walker Churchman; his son-in-laws, Glenn Savoie, Craig Vinet, his daughter-in-law, Ji Ying Chen; his nieces and nephews, Tony, Lisa, Elaina, Richard, Johnette and Pat. The family would like to give special thanks to Pam Brown and the staff at St. Michael's assisted living and the staff at Compassus Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10am. A Catholic Mass will take place at 11am at St. Rita Catholic Church, 2729 Lowerline St. New Orleans, Louisiana 70118. The Internment will follow in Metairie Cemetery at All Saints Mausoleum. Lillie Ann Johnson McGee entered eternal rest on November 30, 2023, at the home of her youngest daughter Wanda in Rowlett, Texas. Lillie was born, Christened, and reared as a Catholic at an early age at St Peter Claver Catholic Church. She later joined and raised her daughters at St. Raymond Catholic Church. During her long-term visits with her kids and grandkids in Rowlett, Texas, she attended and was lovingly known as "Mother" at Zion Baptist Church. pastored under Pastor Dayvid Griggs Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters: Terry McGee, Dr. Kim McGee-Cummings, Brenda McGee-Ellison (Raymond), and Dr. Wanda McGee-Igiozee, two sons-in-love, Melvin Earl McGee Jr. , and Dexter Cummings. She also leaves her sister Margie Collins, Aunt Allegria Alsina, sister-in-love, Lois Juluke, brother-in-love Edward Paris, seven grandchildren, Earl Frazier, Danielle Frazier Soliman, Princetta Cummings. D'Jon MeGee, Diamond Cummings, Princeton Igiozee and Ashton Igiozee, and four great-grandchildren, Kingston and Kenzie Frazier, Ember McGee, and Aaliyah Soliman, and one godson, Joseph Barrow. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Ms. McGee will be abundantly missed by all who knew and loved her. David Carey Workman, 58, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. David was born and raised in New Orleans, where he attended Redeemer High School and Delgado Community College. He has been a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 25 years where he and his wife, Michelle Peters Workman, raised their children, Emily Elizabeth Workman and Spencer Carey Workman. David was the owner of ESS Design Services and enjoyed using his talents to design and draft plans for residential and commercial buildings throughout the Greater New Orleans area and beyond. He followed in his father's footsteps of serving others by joining the Mandeville Lion's Club where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and President in 2022 and 2023 and received various honors including "Lion of the Year", the "President's Appreciation Award", and the "Melvin Jones Founders Award" recognizing his excellence in service. David enjoyed watching any and all sporting events, especially LSU, the Saints and his favorite team, the LA Dodgers. He was also a classic car enthusiast and played golf in his spare time. He was devoted to his family and continually put his desires and needs aside to do anything he could for those he loved. He was known for his positive outlook. One of his greatest joys was making others laugh, and he will be remembered by all who knew him as a jokester with a quick wit and great sense of humor. In addition to his wife and children, David is survived by his mother Patricia Mackbee Aucoin, sister Sharon Workman Pender (Mike), and numerous nieces, nephews, and a great-niece. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank Wingenter, Anne Wingenter, Robert Mackbee and Theresa Mackbee, his father Robert Everett Workman, and his step-father Lloyd Aucoin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Good Shepherd Church, 5122 W. Esplanade Avenue, Metairie, LA 70006 at 11:00 a. m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a. m. CHARLES "Charlie" HENRY VAN VRANCKEN Charles "Charlie" Henry Van Vrancken, age 94, passed peacefully on December 5, 2023 surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rose Mary Gillilea Van Vrancken, daughter Cynthia " Cindy" McCurdy, and son Charles "Chuck" G. Van Vrancken (Christy), granddaughter Tamara Louise Mandella and great-grandchildren Joseph Peter Szott and Brielle Marie Szott as well as many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Edward J. and Edna Matthis Van Vrancken, siblings Edward J. Van Vrancken (Florence), Joyce Menner (John), and Dorothy Prados (John) and son-in-law Richard McCurdy. Born in New Orleans and having lived through the Great Depression, Charlie left school early to begin working to support his family. His devotion to family and work ethic followed him throughout his life. His early jobs included sweeping the floors of his uncle's pool hall, delivering newspapers or groceries. In 1951 the U. S. Army drafted him and served in Korea in the 555th MED OPT REP where he was awarded 3 bronze service stars and was promoted to Sergeant. Upon his discharge in 1953, he returned to New Orleans and worked at Gulf States Optical where he met the love of his life, Rose. After their marriage and birth of their children, he began an apprenticeship at Falstaff Brewery where he learned all aspects of brewery operations before finally working in the brewhouse until its closing in 1978. He then started a new phase of his long work history, that of event manager at his cousin's Champagne and Arrow Rooms followed by The Balcony. Many brides and grooms of the 70s, 80s and 90s knew "Mr. Charlie" as the man behind the scenes ensuring their wedding was a memorable event. He mentored scores of young men who served as bartenders and waiters while instilling in them his strong work ethic. Many of whom today are prominent attorneys, doctors and businessmen in New Orleans. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Family vacations were car trips to familiar destinations - the beach, Lookout Mountain, AstroWorld or family gatherings at his parents' home for seafood boils and holiday celebrations. The family were members of a Carnival club and regularly paraded in New Orleans on Mardi Gras in the truck parades. A Saints season ticket holder dating back to the days of Tulane stadium, he continued to follow the Saints until his passing. Charlie will be greatly missed and remembered by family and friends as outgoing, hardworking, a devoted family man who got joy from putting his wife and children first. Ray Michael Gaudet was born on March 30, 1946 and entered into enteral rest on December 5, 2023. He was a native of Raceland in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana and resided in Westwego, Louisiana. Late husband of Jane Gaudet, whom he loved dearly and never stopped making sure she was cared for. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Rene Gaudet and Blanche Bourgeois Gaudet, his brothers Norman, Earl and Benton Gaudet, and his former wife Janice T. Gaudet and son-in-law Gabriel Guerrero. He is survived by his children Rickey (Lediana), Jody (Sherry), former daughter-in-law Stacy Gaudet, Robin Thibodeaux (Brian), his brothers Nolan and Arthur Gaudet, his stepchildren Jan Ingram (Chetti), Anthony Brown, Laurie Vincent (Timmy), Denise Turberville-Guerrero and his 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Ray retired in 2010 from Avondale Shipyards after 45 years of dedicated service as Ship Superintendent. He and Jane loved to travel. They experienced many places here and many countries abroad. He enjoyed eating out with the Avondale Gang, fishing, going to the casino with friends and family and loved his SAINTS football team. Special thanks to the many Ochsner doctors, nurses and St. Catherine’s Hospice for their compassionate care. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm for a wake at Mothe Funeral Home in Marrero, 7040 Lapalco Blvd. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Philip and Jeanne Darder. Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Milton J. Toepfer; son, Brian J. Toepfer; parents, Philip and Jeanne Darder; sister, Beverly Weir as well as her grandparents and a host of other relatives. She is survived by her loving children, Milton J. Toepfer, Jr. , Linda Loupe (Harvey), and Karen Toepfer (Mark McNeil); loving grandchildren, Tika Taconi, Scott Taconi (Lindsey), Shane Toepfer (Alli), Todd Loupe (Melissa), Tara Bordelon (Scott), Chad Loupe (Toya), Christy Vercher (Justin), and Jeffrey Toepfer (LaceyAnn); loving great-grandchildren, Haley Koch, Aubrey Taconi, Reagan Taconi, Gabrielle Bordelon, Gooch Bordelon , Alyssa Bordelon, Olivia Bordelon, Katie Bordelon, Grant Loupe, Madison Loupe, Carter Loupe, Jackson Loupe, Harrison Loupe, Gabriel Vercher, Brooklyn Vercher, Case Vercher, Caroline Vercher, Cayden Loupe, Adeline Toepfer, and Annalise Toepfer; one great-great grandson, Carter Beaudoin. She was the matriarch of the family, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and a friend to all. Henry Florance Heaton III (born June 21st, 1958) passed away peacefully at home on December 4th, 2023. Henry grew up in the Carrollton area, and in his early life, was active in the neighborhood's community spanning from baseball to politics. Henry graduated from De La Salle High School, where he was a star right-field baseball player. He completed his Bachelor of Business at the University of New Orleans. For 25 years (1986-2010), he proudly served the City of New Orleans as the Accessor for the 7th Municipal District. Throughout his life, Henry loved being outdoors and spending time with his friends and family. His favorite pastimes included playing ball, camping, golfing, fishing, trips to Perdido Key and Jordan River Shores, and poker nights in his man cave. Henry's larger-than-life personality, shown best through his storytelling, is what will be most remembered and what will live on in the hearts of many. Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin H. Heaton, Sr. and Janet Kramer Heaton, and by his siblings, Edwin H. Heaton, Jr. , Bridget Heaton Schommer, Rebecca Heaton McGuire, and Alexander M. Heaton. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Erin Bannon Heaton, and his three children, Katherine Kramer Heaton Blood (Jason), Jessie Atchley Mauer (Jeff), and Henry Florance Heaton IV. He was the proud grandfather or "Bear" to Oakes & Ryker and Uncle Henry to many nieces & nephews whom he cherished greatly. Marie Yvonne Boudreaux entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 26, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was born on August 27, 1943, in the historic New Orleans, Louisiana and blessed to live a long fruitful life to the age of 80. Marie was born to proud parents, the late Lena Boudreaux and the late Raymond Thomas Boudreaux, Sr. Marie Left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. From her earliest days, Marie radiated warmth and kindness, drawing people to her like a gentle magnet. A loving mother and homemaker, Marie was affectionately known as "Momma" to her children and "Grandma" to her grandchildren. Marie was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Her favorite pastimes included watching the Saints and Pelican games, playing cards (Pitty Pat), and going to the casino to play the penny slot machines. Marie had a great sense of humor, and those facial expressions were priceless. Marie was preceded in death by her father; Raymond Thomas Boudreaux, Sr. , her mother; Lena Brown Boudreaux, her sister; Myra Freeman, her brothers; Raymond Thomas Boudreaux, Jr. , Larry Boudreaux, and Kenneth "JD" Boudreaux, and great granddaughter; Tamoni Chaisson. Her family was the heart and soul of her life, and she created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her only daughter; Yvette Celestine (Gregory) of Forney, Texas, two sons; Emmett Mack Boudreaux, Sr. and Robert Charles Boudreaux both of New Orleans, Louisiana, and their loving father Miller Scott, Jr. , her sister; Janet "Tebe" Washington, her brothers; Eric Boudreaux and Big Chief Joseph "Monk" Boudreaux, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
