Alfred Hosker Jr. passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023. Al was born in Lynn Massachusetts on March 11, 1927. The eldest son of Alfred Hosker Sr and Kathleen (Malone) Hosker, Al grew up on Eastern Avenue in Lynn with his now deceased younger brothers Thomas & James. Al is predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years Patricia Hosker, who passed on November 18, 2021 and his former wife, Marie Hosker of Nahant who passed away on June 25, 2022. Al & Marie raised six children; Thomas, (Kathi) Richard, Suzanne (Robert -deceased), David (Dolly), James & Timothy Hosker (Al's beloved son Richard passed away on June 7, 1971). Al was a loving grandfather to Scott, Kristian, Harrison Hosker, as well as to Richard, Melissa, (Jonathan) and great grandfather to Isla, & Arolo, and CastielleAt age 17, Al left high school to join the U. S. Coast Guard and later finished his education under the G. I. Bill. A WW2 veteran, Al served his country aboard an LST Ship in the Philippines & New Guinea & was awarded both the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippines Campaign Medal and Victory Ribbon. After the war, Al owned and operated Hosker Gas Station & Hardware Store for 12 years. Seeking a new challenge, Al took a sales position with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1961 and worked his way up to Executive Sales Representative. He was elected to the coveted Liberty Mutual Sales Hall Of Fame in 1973 and he was a 15 year member of "The Liberty Leaders Club". During his career at Liberty Mutual, Al also achieved charter membership in the Liberty Mutual "Top Producers Club"As a Nahant Resident, Al was actively involved in the local community. He served as a part time Nahant police officer, and member of the Nahant Chapter of The American Legion, the Lions Club and a charter member of The Knights Of Columbus. Al served on The Nahant School Committee for 19 years as a member and chairman. He was huge Boston Sports fan and had season tickets to Red Sox and Patriot's games. He had many fond memories of cheering on the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox with his children. In 1990, Al retired. He and Patty rented an RV & travelled 16,000 miles across the U. S. , ending their adventure in Alaska with a 50 LB Halibut he caught & ate over an open campfire. Their love of travel cumulated by joining the 100 days club aboard Holland American Cruise Line. Al and Patty settled in Naples Fl. at Royal Woods Condominiums, They were original members of Royal Wood Golf & Country Club. Al served on the master board for eight years and was president from 2004-2006. He is credited during this time with founding the annual "Originals" Golf Tournament. Both Al and Patty cherished their years at Royal Woods and they left behind many friends. Al will be cremated and his ashes sent to Nahant, where he will be buried with his wife Patty. A graveside service will be held for Alfred Hosker at The Greenlawn Cemetery in Nahant on May 19 at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
