KUHN, Carol A. (nee Hoffman) - Of Kenmore, born on July 4, 1936 and entered into rest on December 5, 2023. Treasurd mother of Paul D. Jr. , Glenn, Kenneth (Kathy), Darren, and Suzanne (Joseph) Bauth; devoted grandmother of Eric (Jessica), Bryan (Alyssa), Taylor (Daniel), Kelsey, Brett, Jordan, and Lynn; great-grandmother to 6; survived by her dear brother Thomas (Carol Peszko) Hoffman and loving cousins Mary and Violet Nelson; predeceased by her devoted husband Joseph R. Kuhn and her ex-husband Paul D. Randall Sr. (Heather); also predeceased by her dearly loved parents Raymond and Cecilia (nee Foeger) Hoffman and her sister Mary A. Ryba (Vincent) of Germantown, MD. Carol was a graduate of the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart and also the State University of New York at Buffalo. She also had attended Buffalo State Teachers Galleys in the late 1950's. She began her career in teaching at St. Nicholas Grammar School in the inner city and strongly believed in racial integration. After her children were raised she returned to college and fulfilled her life long dream to become a Social Worker. She worked for the V. I. S. T. A Program (Volunteers in Service to America). Parents Anonymous (now the Family Support Center), Catholic Charities (Young Parents Program) and Child and Family Services (Haven House) as a Domestic Violence Counselor. She was greatly inspired by the late Joan C. Male who founded Parents Anonymous. After Carol's retirement, she was a 5 year Volunteer for Schofiled Residence in Kenmore, NY. Her fondest wish was for racial prejudice to end. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the City Mission, St. Martin de Torres Church, (555 North Hampton St. Buffalo, NY), or Friends of the Night People. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. (near Eggert Rd. ) on Monday Dec. 18th from 4-8PM. Basom - Michael "Frank" Gross, 94, of the Town of Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, New York. Frank was born April 27, 1929, in Alabama, New York a son of the late John and Anna (Bosnak) Gross. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church (St. Patrick Mission Church in Wheatville, NY). Frank received the prestigious Lay Award of St. Joseph the Worker from Bishop Edward Head of the Buffalo Diocese. Frank grew up on his family farm and married the love of his life, Shirley Endres, on May 12, 1951, at St. Mary's Church in Batavia. They lovingly raised three children. Frank was self-employed as a painter and carpenter for many years prior to working at and retiring from Harrison Radiator on July 1, 1991. He was an avid hunter, outdoors man and life-long Yankees fan. He enjoyed the simplicities of life and his home was his favorite place to be. Frank is survived by Shirley Gross, his loving wife of 72 years; children Gregory (Debby) Gross, Peter (Paula) Gross, Karen (Richard Dwyer) Grazioplene, grandchildren Timothy (Meghan) Gross, Jennifer Higgins, Jeffrey Gross, Ashleigh Gross, Jonathan (Danielle) Gross, Michael (Aubrey) Gross; great grandchildren Rory, Shayla, Eleanora, Garrett, Evangeline, Paisley and Silas; siblings Evelyn Clark and Bernice Hochmuth; daughter in law Stephanie Gross; many nieces and nephews. In death Frank will be reunited with his parents, John and Anna Gross; siblings Anna, Betty, John, Joe, Rudy, Bob, Richard, Eleanor, and Ruthy; son in law Scott Grazioplene. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, Oakfield. Frank's funeral mass will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at St. Padre Pio (St. Cecilia Worship Site), 56 Maple Ave, Oakfield, NY 14125. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Oakfield, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alabama Fire Department at 2230 Judge Road, Basom, NY 14013.
