Albert Wesley. Gowen, 85, of Gladstone went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 in Amherst. Born in Lynchburg, (Please check Lynchburg or Gladstone) April 7th, 1934, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Gowen and Hattie Tyree Gowen. He was a loving and devoted Father, Grandfather and Brother who was loved by family , friends and all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading his Bible and spending time with family. He retired as a plumber and was a member of Amherst Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Faye Holiday Gowen and five siblings: Johnny, Clyde, Georgia, Liza and Mildred. He is survived by his seven daughters: Bernice Ashcraft (Bubba) of Newark, Arkansas, Carolyn Tyree (William) of Gladstone, Delores Honaker of Amherst, Bea Campbell (L.C.) of Gladstone, Tammy Thornton (Moses) of Gladstone, Paula Little of Roseland, and Kandi Culpepper (David) of Lynchburg; three siblings: Garland Gowen of Amherst, Rosa Mitchell of Madison Heights and Robert Gowen of Monroe; twenty grandchildren: J. R. Crabtree (Tonya), Willis Crabtree, Penny L. Austin, Amanda R. Moore (Sam), Wesley T. Gowen (Heather), Karri A. Honaker, Raven Funk, Angel Thomas (Erica), M. J. Thornton (Niki), Isaiah Thornton, Christopher Sprouse, Dakota Sprouse, Madison Sprouse, Ryan Little, Skyler Little, Trenton Gunter, Jaylen Ware, Sincere Harris, Serenity Harris and Ariah Culpepper; eleven great-grandchildren: Caleb Crabtree, Carter Crabtree, Kyler Crabtree, Karrigan Crabtree, Shawn Moore, Matthew Austin, Jacob Austin, Kendra Gowen, Khloie Wright, Ryalnd Funk and Brentley Bowling; and numerous nieces nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 29, 2019 at Amherst Church of God with Pastor James Witten and Drew Gibbons officiating. Interment will follow in the Gowen Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 pm, Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society. P.O.
