ALPHA AND OMEGASurrounded by her beloved family, the matriarch of the Hines Family was called to her eternal home on November 18, 2023. Neverseen K. Hines, affectionately known as Nev/Nebbie was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother that was born in Florence County on December 14, 1935. She was the baby girl and the last living sibling of 9 children of the late Sam Joe and Sarah Scipio Kennedy. EDUCATIONNeverseen received her primary education at Long Branch Elementary School in Effingham, SC. She attended Wilson High School in Florence, SC. As a young child, she harnessed a gift for doing hair. The passion then led her to begin taking cosmetology courses in high school. Upon graduating in 1954, she matriculated to Benedict College in Columbia, SC where she received a Bachelor of Elementary Education in 1958. Neverseen went on to teach at Marlboro County Elementary School in Bennettsville, SC for 6 years. COMMUNITY SERVICE/AFFILIATIONSOn August 6, 1960, Neverseen married the late Jesse Edison Hines, Sr. , a union of 53 years. They were blessed and the proud parents of two children. After getting married and moving to Lamar, South Carolina, she continued to teach fifth grade and physical education at Spaulding Elementary School. Neverseen had a full and rewarding experience teaching and shaping kids but becoming an entrepreneur, owner, and operator of a beauty salon was a lifelong dream come true. In 1966, she resigned from teaching to pursue her first love as a Cosmetologist in the opening of Hines Beauty Center where she was an amazing stylish/beautician for over 40 years. As a businesswoman and community leader, Neverseen continued to participate on various community initiatives and organizations at the local, county and state level. In keeping current with her trade, she was a member of the Darlington County Beauticians Association and was one of the founders and members of the Lee County Beauticians Association. Throughout her career, she was a recipient of many hair stylist awards. In addition to her outstanding career's work, she was involved in various community services and organizations that included the NAACP, member of the Order of Eastern Star, Beacon Light Chapter #230, served on the Board of Deacons and Deaconesses, a founding member of the New Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in Effingham, South Carolina, member and co-founder of the African Violet Garden Club and board member for the Darlington County Council of Aging. Neverseen was also recognized by the State of South Carolina Baptist Association for her years of service and dedication as an outstanding musician. She was honored by the Darlington County Women's Association as a leading and admired trailblazer for women. RELIGIONBy the age of 12, Neverseen gave her life to Christ and became a member of Meadow Prong Baptist Church in Effingham, South Carolina. There she was a faithful member of the Senior Choir and a Deaconess. It was at Meadow Prong Baptist Church where she first got to know her late and beloved husband. As a member of New Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, she loyally served as a Deaconess and was later ordained as a Deacon. Neverseen decided in her golden years it was best to move her membership to Bethany Baptist Church in Lamar, not only for the reason of being close to home but because she loved worshiping and connecting with her neighbors and friends. She immensely enjoyed attending and participating in the weekly Bible classes and Sunday school. FAMILYBeing the youngest child of nine siblings, family meant the world to Neverseen. She always tried her best to stay connected with her loved ones. If not by visiting in person, she always remained only a phone call away. To share in her legacy of love she leaves behind her children, Wanda H. (Harold) Robinson of Double Oak, Texas, and Jesse E. (Nicole) Hines Jr. , of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Stephan L. Robinson, Adriana L. Robinson, Lance Lunderman, Hadyn N. Hines and Devan L. Robinson; a goddaughter Sophia K.
