Miguel Mendez, 92, passed away on February 27, 2024. He was born in Marion, IN on September 9, 1931, a son of the late Jose and Andrea Mendez. Miguel served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1953. During his time served he was awarded the Korean Service Medal , United Nations Service Medal, and Purple Heart Medal. His main occupation was a truck driver in the infantry unit. Miguel went on to retire from Fort Wayne Community Schools as a maintenance man after over 20 years of service. He was married to Jessie Mendez, who passed in 2011, together they shared five children. Surviving are his children, Dawn Mendez, Melissa (Brice) Lawrence, Twila (Lee Chapman) Daniels, and DeWayne (Stephanie) Mendez; grandchildren, Kristy (Brent) Watson, Mickey (Bradley) Volney, Joshua (Brittany Evans) Mendez, Nacayla Price, Hailea Price, Britney (Ethan) Reckers, Donte Mendez, Antonia Mendez, Madalynn Mendez, Breanna Mendez and Chelsea Mendez Bryson Daniels, Amber (Ryan) Steffanides; great-grandchildren, Tate Watson, Nora Volney, Alexis Mendez, Connor Saylor, Kaiden, August, and McKinley Price, Zane and Owen Price, Kole and Emmitt Reckers, Raygan, Morgon, and Meeah Daniels and Mackenzie and Delilah Steffanides. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Mendez; son, Michael Mendez; and grandson, Ryan Stinson. Funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46804, with calling from 10:00am to 12:00pm prior to the service. Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN. A lifetime resident of Fort Wayne, she worked for Anthony Wayne Services for several years. She was a very kind and caring person who would try and make friends with everyone she met. Nona is survived by four brothers, Robert L. Downey Jr., Randy T. Downey, David J. Downey and Byron L. (wife Bonnie) Downey; three sisters, Inez M. Lowe, Bonnie J. Downey and Rhonda S. Raza and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Connie worked as a public school teacher, teacher's aide, and most recently as a library clerk. She also served alongside her husband as a pastor's wife. Connie was a member of several Baptist Churches currently attending Calvary Baptist of Fort Wayne and in her free time she enjoyed scrapbooking and playing piano. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Walter Gerstung of Fort Wayne; daughters, Bethanne (Joseph) Keller of Abilene, TX and Bonnie Gerstung of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Katherine Fitch and Ellianna (Raphael) Forrer; great-grandson, Emmet; and sisters, Gwendolyn Long and Marilyn (Marlin) Habecker. Rebecca Lou Glass, known to many as Becky, passed away on February 10, 2024, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of 82. She was born on March 6, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Marie and Ernest D. Hurt. Becky was a meticulous homemaker and domestic engineer, dedicated to maintaining a beautiful home and enhancing its surroundings. In her free time, Becky enjoyed finding bargains on various platforms like Marketplace and Craigslist, where she could acquire items to fix up and either use or resell. She also had a passion for RV camping. Her enthusiasm for these hobbies brought her joy and fulfillment. The most important aspect of Becky's life was her devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was an ardent Bible reader and practiced her faith, fulfilling the Love of Jesus, by giving to others and sharing her beliefs. She was eager to share eternity with Jesus and the loved ones who had gone before her. Becky is survived by her loving husband, Paul Glass, her sons Timothy and Mark Glass, her grandson Timothy Glass, Jr. (spouse Ashley), her granddaughter Sasha Glass, three great-grandchildren, her sister Connie Clauss, and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, sister, and great-grandson Kingston. Becky's dedication to her family and her love for everyone she met will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday (March 9, 2024) at the Local Christian Assembly Church, 3223 Hobson Rd. Ft. Born in Fort Wayne, IN, Jerry was a son to the late Richard and Alma (Benzinger) Anderson. He served honorably in the United States Army. Jerry married Patricia Vickers on April 11, 1963 and she survives. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47. Jerry was an avid fisherman and enjoyed NASCAR Racing. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and his greatest joy was his family. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Patricia Anderson; children, Greg (Rachel) Anderson, Robert (Kim) Anderson, Carl (Deb) Anderson and Carla Saalfrank; sisters, Shirley Shidler and Sharon (Gerry) Peckham; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother Robert D. Anderson. Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans National Memorial Shrine and Museum. Adam was a “jack of all trades”, he knew how to fix anything, and if he didn’t know, he would figure it out. Adam is survived by his children; Cecelia (Danny) Contreras, Jenna, Camilia (Rosa) Morales, Merida, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Adam Jr., Elijah, Xavier, and Marcus; 7 grandchildren; siblings, Eloy, and Suzanne; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
