ABRAM E. MARTINEZ, 89 of Las Cruces (formerly from Santa Clara) passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his loved ones. Abram was born on March 16, 1933 in Clint, Texas to Juan and Simona Espinoza Martinez. He was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church. Abram served in Korean 1953 - 1954 as Army Artillery Crewman. He finished his active-duty service at Fort Bliss, Texas. Returning to New Mexico, he enlisted with the New Mexico National Guard, where he served honorably as an SGT and retired after 26 years of service. He is survived by three sons, Abe Martinez, Raul Martinez, Henry (Tim) Martinez and daughter, Irma Maez (Joe). Other survivors include thirteen grandchildren, Eric and Jarod Martinez, Joseph and Valerie Maez, Preston Ruottinen, Adikus Martinez, Tim Martinez, Angelica Padilla, Adam, Hector Jr. , Gabriel, Diego and Daniel Martinez; six great-grandchildren, Michael Torres, Dejhaila, Elias, Hector, Atticus, and Demetrius Martinez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Siblings include Paz Martinez, Dolores Martinez Rodriguez, Guadalupe Martinez (Rosemary), Mariola Martinez and Larry Martinez (Sandra)Abram was preceded in death by his wife Mary G. Martinez; son Hector Martinez; his parents Juan and Simona Martinez and siblings, Antonia Gloria, Valentina Valenzuela, Jesus Martinez. and Rita Arellano. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Baca's Funeral Chapel, 300 E. Boutz Road. The Funeral Liturgy will follow with Reverend Theophine Okafor Celebrant.
