Marguerite O'Toole

Age - 94

December 5, 2023

Marguerite Laura Macaluso O’Toole passed away in peace at her home in the early morning of November 30, 2023, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old. Born in New Orleans on April 8, 1929, Marguerite was raised in Harvey, Louisiana, the daughter of Ross and Elvina Macaluso. An only child, she was adored by her parents and was her father’s joy. Marguerite graduated from Redemptorist Girls High School in New Orleans in 1946 and is also a graduate of Delta Business School. She moved from Harvey to Algiers in 1957 where she lived for the next 66 years. She was a career employee of Schlumberger Oil Field Services Company, retiring after 30 years in 1992. Marguerite developed lifelong friendships with her neighbors in Algiers and her Schlumberger family and in her last days many were there at her side. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren. Marguerite had a special way of making everyone close to her feel cared for and loved, and especially her family. She was the keeper of the family archives, her bible recording every special event in their lives: births, graduations, weddings, and deaths. It was just one more way to understand just how much her family meant to her. She enjoyed drinking coffee and playing cards with her friends, loved LSU football and baseball, and the New Orleans Saints. But most of all she loved her family, and she will be dearly missed.
